I stopped by Koreanisches Restaurant Gusan recently and had a really great experience with the food. I started with the Gunmandu (meat dumplings), and they came out hot, crispy on the outside, and filled with savory, well-seasoned meat. They were served with a really tasty soy sauce that balanced saltiness with a touch of sweetness — it made the dumplings even better.
For my main dish, I ordered the Dolsot Yachae Bibimbap. It came in a sizzling hot stone bowl, which kept the food warm the entire meal and gave the rice that perfect crispy texture at the bottom. The vegetables were fresh, the seasoning was spot on, and when I mixed everything together with the sauce, the flavors blended beautifully. Honestly, it’s the best Bibimbap I’ve ever had — and even though I’ve only had it twice in my life, this one set the bar high.
The service was okay — not overly attentive, but polite and friendly enough. They got the food out in a reasonable time, and everything was presented well. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, and it felt like the kind of place you could comfortably eat alone or with friends.
Overall, the food here really stood out, especially the Bibimbap, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for authentic, flavorful Korean dishes in the area. I’m already thinking about coming back to try more...
Read moreI was here a long time ago. Somehow I forgot this little gem. Fortunately, my friend wished to have Korean food and I didn't want to bore her with the same restaurants again. There came Gusan back to my mind.
Gusan stands on the quieter side of the Stresemann Straße. The sign is written in classic korean calligraphy, which gives a hint of authenticity. The layout inside the restaurant is simple and clean. Some may not like the lightly clustered feeling, but it is what makes it Korean.
The restaurant offers home-style Korean food. The menu is brief but sufficient. You won't be trapped in decision-making. At the same time, you choices are not compromised. You can choose from different meat, seafood and vegetables in forms of soup and stir-fry in different levels of spiciness.
The service is spotless. A waitress stopped us from ordering a side dish that we would get from a main dish combo anyways. The lady cook consulted us if the main dishes should be served before she did it. By leaving, the lady even held the door open for us.
If you crave for some authentic hearty Korean food, Gusan is the place to go. I can only recommend it.
P.S. we've ordered too much food than we could eat. Eyes are always bigger than stomach. I have to apologize for the food waste. I'd be more...
Read moreService was exceptionally poor. We had booked a table for Friday night in advance, only to be told upon arrival that we had just one hour for dining as there were other guests afterward. However, this was NEVER mentioned during our phone reservation, and when confronted, they falsely claimed it was explained.
Despite accepting the one-hour limit, we were then informed that most dishes, including appetizers, were off-limits as we couldn't finish them within the time frame. What kind of restaurant can't serve an appetizer in an hour? If there were no available seats, why didn't they inform us during the reservation? Why don’t tell customers the one-hour dining limit in advance? If they accept reservations, why restrict customers in ordering, even for appetizers? I can't comment on the taste as the restaurant didn't give us that opportunity.
From the moment we entered, the Korean waitress showed no smile, and there was no apology until we left.
I won't recommend this restaurant to any...
