Café OPITZ im Goethehaus — Restaurant in Frankfurt

I was here on Saturday mid afternoon with a friend of mine who lives in Germany as I was visiting Frankfurt from New York. We sat down to take a break with some tea before we went into Goethehause at Cafe OPITZ but I had some serious stomach trouble all of a sudden. It was very acute and there was little I could do to feel better. The cafe staff were incredibly kind and caring and they helped me in so many ways. I was such a huge inconvenience to them but they were trying to help in any way possible, including offering water and chair, doctor, a place to lay down if needed. I was so touched so wanted to go back to show my gratitude the next day but the cafe didn’t open before my flight out. Thank you so much and I apologize again for all the trouble. Yesterday my friends and I had a cozy meet-up here. It's right in the middle of time and a hidden gem at the same time, it's close to the Goethe Museum and to Zeil.

Their decoration is nice to look at, with mint colored walls one wall is full with books from which you can pick one and read. It has such a calm atmosphere you could do some work on your laptop. Every table has a flower arrangement amd gives a light vibe. The waiters were super friendly and open, cracking jokes here and there.

Their hot chocolate is actual chocolate chips melted in hot milk with milk foam on top. They also offer a variety of different milks, lactose-free milk, soy milk, coconut milk etc... their cake and pastry collection is straightforward and tasty.

AVOID THIS RACIST CAFE. There’s a guy working when I visited on 21 May, around 12.50pm. I’m Asian. When I walked in, he was half blocking the entrance while on the phone. I walked in, not knowing that he’s the staff. He then went behind the counter (while still being on the phone), and asked what i needed. I ordered an iced latte to go. He replied “absolutely not”. There was another customer in the cafe on his laptop and having coffee, but my order was rejected....
