ConditCouture — Restaurant in Frankfurt

This is an absolute must-visit place if you're in Frankfurt and appreciate gourmet cakes. Adorable place and apparently very popular too, but it's not like you have to stand in line forever.

The owners were incredibly nice and patient with me as I asked a question after question about each cake while struggling to come to terms with the fact that I was going to eat only one of them.

In the end, the lovely lady recommended I try their "Phlaumen tarte," and it certainly did not disappoint. It has a slightly soft, wonderfully delicious custardy middle with some chocolate chips throughout (they slightly melt once heated). The almond slices atop are a nice touch too. It's served with a dollop of fresh whipped cream that is also to die for and complements the cake beautifully.

I got some cookies to go as a gift, but I might give in to temptation and sample them myself. Had I stayed here longer, I would have come back each day to try more cakes, and you should do just that if you have the opportunity.

Lastly, I paid 8 € for a slice of cake and coffee (tasty and big, not some two-sip-and-done size). I think that's a bargain considering the sophistication level of...

I purchased three ConditCouture cakes to-go and tried all three within one hour of purchase. I found all three cakes to be overwhelmingly sweet compared to other German pastries and desserts I’ve had. The sponge cake portion of the Frankfurter Kranz was a bit dry. The cake and crust portion of the Chocolate Cherry Cake with Mousse was soaked with liquor. The Raspberry Pistachio cake was by far the sweetest, but over all my favorite, due to its interesting texture and my personal fondness for raspberries. If you like Sprinkles Cupcakes in America, this is the perfect place for you. The staff were obviously tired from serving nonstop, as there were massive crowds of tourists AND the audience of the Ironman competition, but were still friendly and efficient. Noch nie so unverschämt und unfreundlich bedient worden!

Die Verkäuferin, die leider auf dem Kassenbon mit „Testpersonal“ benannt wird erhält die volle Punktzahl an KundenUNfreundlichkeit.

Lustlos, wortlos hat sie die Waren verpackt. Fragen wollten oder konnten von ihr nicht beantwortet werden.

Der Gipfel war, dass die Verkäuferin uns eine kostenpflichtige Tragetüte untergejubelt hat. Erklärt hat sie es uns pampig, als es uns zufällig auf dem Bon aufgefallen ist. Dreist meinte sie, ihre Vorgehensweise wäre normal und Tüten kosten überall Geld. Sie hielt es nicht für nötig, den Kunden hiervon in Kenntnis zu setzen. Leider mussten wir der Dame erklären, dass wir sowohl beim Bäcker, Blumenladen, Boutique etc. immer KOSTENFREI hochwertige(ere) und stabilere Papiertragetaschen erhalten. Und sollte es mal nicht kostenfrei sein, wird man selbstverständlich gefragt (!), ob man für 70 Cent noch eine Tragetasche möchte.

Nur am Rande: wir haben zusammen über 100 Euro in Ihrem Laden gelassen!!!

Absolutes „No Go“ vor versammelter Mannschaft im vollen Laden solche unnötigen Diskussionen zu führen. Scheinbar brauchen Sie keine Kunden mehr. Zwei davon kommen mit Sicherheit nie wieder in Ihr Geschäft!

Wundert euch also bitte nicht, wenn immer mehr online eingekauft wird. Bei euch wird die „Servicewüste Deutschland“ gelebt. So ein Einkaufserlebnis nach einem gemütlichen Weihnachtsmarktbummel braucht kein Mensch! Der Abend war versaut …

Aber, wenn ich hier die Kommentare des Inhabers auf kritische Rückmeldungen seiner Kundschaft lese, vermute ich fast, seine Ehefrau muss uns bedient haben :-)
