I LOVED this cute place to dine while walking about the older part of Frankfurt. My husband and I just stumbled upon it around lunchtime, and we were hoping for local cuisine, so this seemed like a decent choice. It was a beautiful day, so we THOUGHT we'd eat outside at one of their tables, but upon entering the restaurant, we were enchanted! I had to get a table in that place! And we didn't have to wait! I could hardly blink for fear of missing something cute hanging from the ceiling or on the wall. Rich woods, lots of signs with quotes written on them in German, artwork EVERYWHERE, painted glass... all were a feast for the eyes! And what a menu! We both decided on the Sweineschitzel and a couple beers. It was all perfect! We sat at a large table against a wall so we could take in everything around us. The other diners seemed like locals, except for two couples who walked in after us. The host (maybe he owned the place) was cheerful and lovely. I hadn't noticed a sign that they only took cash! A minor inconvenience, as there were other ATMs nearby (note that many of these are actually located inside stores/restaurants and not out on the street). We were so thrilled with our choice and I'd take others there on a future...
Read moreI always wanted to go to Germany to try the famous Wursts. This is why I ordered the 5 types of wurst combo and in this restaurant I had my first "traditional" experience. Who would have known that I had to wait around 30 minutes for the lowest quality wurst you can get from Lidl that was on sale because it was going to expire. I am not sure if this was the time the cook needed to go and buy it but it was definitely not a busy day. This was nicely decorated with mustard packs in order to contribute to the fast food pub feeling.
The other interesting thing that people might want to try is the lobster soup. While the restaurant is really close to the river, I would not expect the soup to taste like the lobster came out of it, took a shower in a big pot and they served the dirty water as a "soup". And my, oh my I can tell you that was a long, long shower.
The two differences between a fast food truck and this place is the waiting time and that you can pay with a card at the fast...
Read moreOver 30 minutes of waiting for our order to be taken and even more for the food to arrive. Only one waiter appeared to be working while the other waitresses only cared about checking their phones. Followed by over a half an hour wait to even receive our bill. In all we spent about 2.5 hours for one course and some drinks, most of the time waiting to be served while being seemingly ignored. I wish I could say it was due to it being busy, but 2/3 of the tables were empty, and I can see why, people were leaving due to waiting times and the place wasn't even close to being remotely busy.
The food, when it finally arrived, was mediocre at best and definitely overpriced for what we received.
Terrible experience overall, certainly won't be...
