DFG - DON'T F**K GOETHE — Restaurant in Frankfurt

Starting at the beginning, I had a few questions about the wine. The server told me „grauer burgunder goes with everything“ when i was asking questions about a specific Riesling. It would be okay if she doesn’t know everything about every wine on the menu, but they could have sent someone who knew something about that riesling. When the bottle arrives at our table, it was completely warm ~18C. Moving on to the food- we ordered pasta pomodoro. The menu said it contains tomato salsa, burrata, and pistachio. what we actually got was tomato salsa and shrimps. One, this is not what we ordered, and two, we don’t like shrimps at all. We mentioned this to the server and she said „yes today we have it with shrimps“. This was absolutely abhorrent. I have to be fair- we did not have to pay for the pasta and we got a small platter of cheese with ziegenkäse to compensate for the pasta fiasco, but the experience was already ruined. To finish with, at 22:00 just behind me the DJ started playing music, at a volume which was completely hindering any conversation. I expected a lot more from this restaurant. Maybe, I just have to try again on a different day.

The carrot dish was a standout, somehow making humble carrots feel like the star of the show with their vibrant seasoning and perfect execution and the sauce… OMG, sooo good I died. The fish course brought it home with delicate, melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

Atmosphäre: Das DFG Restaurant hat mich mit seiner neu gestalteten Einrichtung vom ersten Moment an beeindruckt. Der Umbau hat das Ambiente völlig verändert und zum Positiven gewandelt. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich das durchdachte Lichtkonzept und den ansprechend gestalteten Eingangsbereich, die zusammen eine einladende und warme Atmosphäre schaffen. Das Restaurant hat eine gelungene Transformation vom alten Café Restaurant Utopia erlebt, wobei das DFG in jeder Hinsicht phänomenal ist.

Essen: Die Speisekarte, obwohl nicht umfangreich, ist sorgfältig kuratiert, was die Auswahl erleichtert und jeden Geschmack anspricht. Die Qualität und die Präsentation der Gerichte waren ausgezeichnet, und das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis hat mich sehr überzeugt. Die Gerichte sind nicht nur ein Fest für den Gaumen, sondern auch für das Auge, und tragen somit zu einem rundum gelungenen Esserlebnis bei.

Service: Von dem Moment an, als wir das Restaurant betraten, bis zu unserer Abreise, war der Service tadellos. Das Personal begrüßte uns freundlich und führte uns zu unserem Tisch. Getränkebestellungen wurden prompt aufgenommen und ebenso schnell serviert. Die Bedienungen waren aufmerksam, höflich und stets zur Stelle, wenn wir sie brauchten, ohne aufdringlich zu sein.

Besonderes Highlight: Ein überraschendes Highlight war die Transformation des Restaurants zu einer Art Partylocation nach 23:30 Uhr am Wochenende. Die DJ-gesteuerte Musik schaffte eine lebhafte und ausgelassene Stimmung, die den Abend perfekt abrundete. Dieser Aspekt macht das DFG zu einem vielseitigen Ort, der sowohl für ein entspanntes Abendessen als auch für spätere gesellige Stunden geeignet ist.

Fazit: Das DFG Restaurant ist eine absolute Bereicherung für Frankfurt. Mit seinem einladenden Ambiente, hervorragenden Essen, vorbildlichen Service und der einzigartigen Möglichkeit, den Abend mit Musik und Tanz ausklingen zu lassen, hat es alle Erwartungen übertroffen.
