Zagros — Restaurant in Frankfurt

A clean well-lighted place in the heart of the red light district... After some disappointing attempts to find a place to eat in central Frankfurt on a Sunday after midnight (technically early Monday morning) that was actually serving food (NB listed as being open does not necessarily mean the kitchen staff are still working), I had the idea of visiting the city's red light district. In any red light district worth of its name, I reasoned, there must be some establishment serving food at 1:30 AM. This hunch proved correct and in short order a friendly waiter (perhaps the owner) at Zagros provided me with a lovely doner kebab sandwich on fresh pita bread that really hit the spot. The cost was an utterly reasonable 5 euros. It seems scarcely worth mentioning that the 2 glasses of Coke Zero I imbibed at 3 Euros each seemed a wee bit pricey, since the dining experience as whole was, under the circumstances,...

This was our go to restaurant during the 2020 lockdown period.. we were visiting Germany for 3 months and we ate from this restaurant every other night. We are from australia and still to this day talk about the egg & sujuck pide as well as those pita pocket style kebabs. I’ve still not been able to find a restaurants that compares to the quality and flavour that Zagros provided

Ich würde nach mehreren Bestellungen dort tatsächlich sagen, dass das einer der schlechtesten Dönerläden in Frankfurt ist. Sowohl von der Qualität des Essens als auch vom Service.

Beginnen wir mal mit den Online Bestellungen: Erste Bestellung war ein Dönerteller mit Kalb. Gekommen ist Hähnchen, was einen erheblichen Mangel darstellt. Dachte mir aber nichts großes dabei. Zweite Bestellung mit der expliziten Anforderung, den Dönerteller mit Kalbfleisch zu liefern. Falls dies nicht vorrätig sein sollte, bitte stornieren. Tja gekommen ist wieder Hähnchen. Nach einem Anruf hieß es nur "Entschuldigung".

Dachte mir, gehst du mal vor Ort probieren. Bestelle einen Dürüm. Ich sah schon wie das übrig gebliebene Fleisch zusammengekratzt wurde, auf nen Teller geklatscht und in die Mikrowelle verfrachtet wurde. Dachte mir zuerst, vlt ist das ja für die selbst. Aber nein, das wurde auf meinen Dürüm gelegt. Natürlich ohne zu fragen, wie ich den haben möchte.

Nach Rückfrage, warum denn kein frisches Fleisch geschnitten werde hieß es, es sei doch frisch. Und warum ladet das dann in der Mikrowelle?
