La Pergola Due — Restaurant in Hamburg

We came to the restaurant early evening, it wasn't really full but not empty either. We first got the German menus quite fast and since I know a bit of German and like to practice I started reading it through. When he came to ask for orders I found the waiter's German quite hard to understand though so I asked him to switch English in my broken German and that's when the service got really bad in my opinion, he threw us the English menus without looking even though we could've ordered already and took his time to return. When we ordered the food it came in few minutes, which is very suspicious since other customers ordering similar pasta dishes waited for longer, but we might have just been lucky. The pasta was overcooked to my taste, and my arrabiata had some onions that really didn't fit into it at all. The sauce was weirdly orange for both dishes, mine was ok but my partner's was quite bland. All in all it's quite mediocre, I could probably make as good with a store-bought sauce in my home, it could've been two-three star review if it was only for the food. I had to ask for a bill some three times over half hour, the waiter never acknowledged my request and at one point even people at the other table started to find it funny. Not a pleasant experience altogether and not going to go back...

It was a busy night. I ordered drinks and food. Drinks never arrived, had to remind them THREE times that I had ordered drinks but I never got anything even after promising me it would be handled. Food finally arrives after 45 minutes and STILL NO DRINKS. I also got THE WRONG DISH served to me. No attempts were made to consolidate or make amends, I had to pay the bill for the more expensive dish THAT I NEVER ORDERED IN THE FIRST PLACE. (Can I sue for this?)

This is the second time this has happened (more or less) and I'm really done with this supposed "Italian" place. I'm never coming here again.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this place to ANYONE because of the extremely lousy service.

Came in on a Monday night so it was quiet, which was perfect. The Dorada was excellent, very nice garlic and rosemary stuffing, and it was so big I couldn't even finish the sides; very generous portions! Quite enjoyed the wine pairing they suggested, too. Little things like bringing some oil for dipping the bread, unprompted, just shows people know what they're doing.
