Weinhaus Bluhm — Restaurant in Mainz

We got this winehaus advised by somebody working in a wine store in town. Reviews made it look like good cuisine. The restaurant is small but cozy and without a reservation we were welcome. We choose the 3 course menu and asked for wine pairing with the food. This wasn't possible. (A chance your missing I guess when having a restaurant in a wine area and when you are called a winehaus). So we asked what good wines they have. The waiter suggested the Sauvignon Blanc because everybody likes it according to him. He could have asked our preference.. but that serving doesn't gets too much attention here showed when the waiters would never explain what was on our plates. Only an "enjoy". The starter of fish was nice. The maindish Hacktbraten was oke but too salty to both our taste. For dessert I had the cheese and my partner had the sweet dessert. Again it was fine, although when I asked which cheeses were on my plate and told them to explain me in German, the waiter couldn't recall them all. We enjoyed the coffee with the brownie a lot. It was almost the best part! Not bad food at all but people make it look like this place is fine dining and with that in mind we expected more. The dishes look fancy and cool but are not super special. By the way there was even salt and pepper on my pieces of cheese!! Cheese is salty...

Das Essen war gut. Nicht hervorragend aber gut. Aber der Service war das gruseligste, was wir seit Langem erlebt haben. Definitiv keine Empfehlung. Die gruselige Reise begann damit, dass wir eine Flasche Wein bestellten. Nachdem diese am Tisch geöffnet worden war, teilte man us mit, dass der Wein wegen einer kaputten Kühlung nicht gekühlt sei. Hä? Immerhin haben wir auf einen - teureren - Wein wechseln können, der noch gekühlt war. Dann erstmal Wartezeit. Als Vorspeise gab es u.A. zwei unterschiedliche Dips mit Brot (so auf der Karte). Als diese gebracht wurden, fragte man uns, ob wir Brot wollten. Hä? Steht in der Karte, also sollen wir uns das in die Haare schmieren? Besteck nur auf Nachfrage. Dann erstmal Wartezeit. Wir beobachteten, wie auch andere Gäste warteten und versuchten, auf sich aufmerksam zu machen. Nach dem Hauptgang wollten wir einen Digestif bestellten. Erstmal Warten auf die Speisekarte. Nach 20 Minuten Wartezeit verzichteten wir auf den Degestif, aßen unsere Nachspeise und bezahlten. Auf der Rechnung entdeckten wir zwei mal einen Brotkorb. Auf unsere Rückfrage hin, warum denn, erklärte man uns, dass wir es zwei mal so bestellt hätten. Nein. Wir haben es nicht zwei mal bestellt, sondern zwei mal daran erinnert, dass es zu den bestellten Speisen laut Speisekarte dazu gehört - einmal zu meiner Vorspeise und einmal zum Hauptgang meiner Frau. Die Bedienung antwortete patzig, dass wir es zwei mal bestellt hätten und es bleibt so auf der Rechnung. Als als wir gefragt haben, ob sie uns nun die Brotkörbe, die inkludiert gewesen wären nun für den nach Hause Weg einpackt, hat sie es irgendwie verstanden. Beim Zahlen wurden wir aufgefordert, den Bezahlvorgang zwei mal hintereinander mit unserer PIN freizugeben. Als wir protestierten, prüfte die Bedienung den Vorgang am Rechner und bestätigte, dass alles doch schon beim erstem Mal bezahlt wurde. Hä? Keine Regung, kein Zeichen von Entschuldigung oder Derartiges. Ok, Tschüß waren die abschließenden Grußformeln, von dem durchgehenden Rumgedutze ganz abgesehen.. (Immerhin war die Bestecknutzung gratis, obwohl wir es auch separat haben...
