eatDOORI ist ein noch recht neues indisches Restaurant in Mainz. Das Ambiente ist nett und versucht sich in die typisch moderne Gestaltung anderer Mainzer Läden einzufügen. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt und bedient. Das Essen kam recht schnell und war zwar ordentlich präsentiert, aber etwas umständlich zu essen. Ich hatte ein Curry bestellt. Das kam in einer recht hohen Schale, ähnlich wie eine Schüssel für z.B. Suppen oder Cornflakes. Sie stand auf dem Teller, auf dem auch der Reis serviert wurde. Diese Art der Darreichung hat das Essen irgendwie erschwert. Das ist nicht schlimm, nur es wurde eben umständlicher, als es hätte sein müssen, da die Schale so hoch und groß war. Man wusste nicht, wie man das eine mit dem anderen zusammenbringen soll. Viel gewichtiger bei meiner Bewertung ist aber das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Curries stellt man sich in diesem Lokal selbst zusammen. Man wählt ein Curry und anschließend die Beilagen. Eine Schale Curry mit einer relativ kleinen Portion Reis und Gemüse kostet 10 Euro. Da einem die Reisportion nicht genügen wird, kann man direkt für 2,50 Euro einen weiteren, kleinen Teller nachbestellten. Man ist also für ein einfaches Gericht ohne Fleisch bei knapp 13 Euro, Getränke noch nicht inbegriffen. Das Curry war geschmacklich zwar in Ordnung, aber in dieser Menge für den Preis irgendwie nicht angemessen. Das Lokal hat meiner Meinung nach den falschen Laden gewählt. Die Miete für das Objekt wird für das Konzept des Restaurants einfach viel zu hoch liegen. Es ist zwar in Ordnung, es macht aber für mich persönlich keinen Sinn hierher zu kommen.

Well I am used to Indian restaurants from the UK and EatDoori wasn't great ... The lamb bhuna was fine, not spicy but was okay, the garlic naan was unfortunately too dry, not looking like a garlic naan, the papadoms also felt industrial and lacked taste. Some of my friends went for the Kulfi ice creams and were also disappointed. All in all, a restaurant that does not try to be tasty, just tries to make okay food. Would be fine if it was a canteen for 15€ but for a 40€ meal it does not meet expectations.

Goan curry with chicken and garlic naan. The food is great, curry is rich with flavor and creamy, spicy but not too spicy, the rice is cooked perfectly. You also get a lot of chicken in it, the portions are nice and big for a reasonable price. The garlic naan is great to eat on its own or to scoop the curry with it. Also tried the mango lassi, very delicious, not too sweet but also not too creamy. I recommend this restaurant. The food, staff and atmosphere are all very pleasant combined together.

We went here when visiting Mainz. It was a pleasant day and we were looking for something to nibble on. This place was perfect. The garam chai was great. Could have been a bit more kadak though. We got paneer burger instead of the wada pav that we ordered. But the waiter was kind enough to change it to wada pav. Momos were good enough. Samosas were decent. Salted lassi was pleasant.

Definitely one of the tastiest and affordable thali I had in Germany. We went on a weekday afternoon, the service was quick, less crowd. The prices are good for the portion size. We order sweet sour Gobi, 2 chicken tikka thali and last but not least Khulfi. It was all good. Definitely a recommendation if you are around Mainz Marktplatz or Krischgarten.
