we were there yesterday with my Aunt from U.S and she ordered our food in ENGLISH. We ordered 5 steaks with salad and 2 SODA. Once the 2 Soda came, the other waiter named ROLAND shouted and laughing in German " Give them also 6 Straw". ( we are 6 by the way 2 child 1 senior 3 adult) I dont drink a lot of cola thats why we intended to order only 2 because my kids have their own water.) I understand what he said because i live in berlin and i speak German as well .I told him in German that i understand what he means .. He told me that the straw is for kids. ( Who the h*ll drink 2 Soda with 6 Straw? ) and he told me that was a misunderstanding. I understanf what he means 100% er hat uns verarchen!! we are really offended humilated with the other costuner who is alsogermans!! we asked for the manager to have a complaint but the manager came and defended him she said also that the straw is for children. ( is your children also drink 2 Soda using 6 straw? .. I know what he means that we ordered only 2 soda and we will share it together.. he think i dont understand german thats why he make fun of us usibg their language. ( the manager told us that we get a new waiter. No Apologies no sorries. thats all.. ) They are rude!!. After we ate we go out of the restaurant and saw once again this waiter besidr the another waitress in front . The waitress said byebye and thank you and that waiter ROLAND still laughing and still enjoying pissing us off... Thats how you trained your waiter?? We just wanted to eat after a vacation in münich and this what we get?! Is this how you treat your costumer? we didnt do anything wrong about you we didnt deserved to be treated like that!. We had one person with dairy allergy asking for mayo with the steak as no other sauce was possible. We asked to check whether there was dairy free mayo and bring it if there was. Different person brought the mayo and just to be sure we asked if it was in deed dairy free. Well, the waiter needed to go back to check as he did not know. And in deed it was not dairy free like real mayo should be. At this point the allergic person was disappointed in waiting and being without any sauce, asking why did they bring it if it was not dairy free... the waiter said (verbatim) "IT IS YOU WHO IS SICK, NOT ME" and left the table. One of us ran after him to tell him that you do not speak like that to your customer, telling him he should apologize. He never did, no one did. Even the manager came but said nothing. One of his colleague said that this guy did not mean it. Well, if he did not, then why did he not apologize? In the end they even made us pay for the whole bill. We told them they should not charge for this one person who was insulted, but they refused to correct the bill. At this point we were too tired and too furious to fight or even report to them that we also saw a mouse running on the terrace floor... disgusting. Waiter said they cannot change that we are unhappy (they did not even try) but they would welcome us another day. Well, there will not be another try with them. I had dinner at Block House Elisenhof in Munich tonight. I’d often walked by intrigued, and finally decided to give it a try. Sadly, my expectations weren’t met, and I left rather disappointed.
The restaurant wasn’t overly busy when I arrived, and I was seated quickly. However, I wasn’t given a menu until I repeatedly tried to get the staff’s attention — first with eye contact and hand gestures, and eventually by calling out more loudly than I would have liked. Only then did I finally receive a menu.
Once I ordered, things went smoothly: the food arrived quickly and was quite good. My main course was tasty, and the dessert (a molten chocolate lava cake) was easily the highlight of the evening.
Unfortunately, service remained inattentive throughout. After each course, my plates were cleared without any follow-up (e.g. asking if I wanted another drink, dessert, coffee, or the bill). Each time, I had to actively call out to get a menu, place an order, or request the bill. At no point did anyone apologize for, or even acknowledge, the repeated lack of attentiveness.
The staff was polite and never rude, but simply not attentive. Having worked in hospitality, I understand that not everything can run perfectly all the time, and I don’t want to come across as pretentious. Still, the overall experience was disappointing — particularly from a service perspective. Maybe it was just an off night, but as it stands, I don’t feel inclined to return...
