We make it a point to visit Café-Bistro Dallmayr at least once on every trip to Munich, and this June we were fortunate enough to dine there on three separate occasions. Over the years, we’ve come to associate Dallmayr with impeccable service and culinary excellence—so it was disappointing that our first visit this summer fell short of expectations.
While the food remained of high quality, the service provided by Mr. Luciano Corona was surprisingly unprofessional and inattentive. His demeanor felt forced and, at times, even rude. We were made to feel unwelcome, as though our presence was inconvenient. The service was slow, and we couldn’t shake the impression that non-German guests were not being treated with the same warmth. Based on this experience alone, we would have rated the visit just one star.
However, our long-standing appreciation for Dallmayr encouraged us to return—and we’re so glad we did. Two days later, we were served by Ms. Carolin Omlor, and the contrast was remarkable. She was courteous, genuinely friendly, and highly professional. Her pride in her work was evident in every interaction. She made us feel completely at home, offering thoughtful touches like asking whether we preferred butter or oil with our bread—something we hadn’t been offered previously. No request was too much trouble. The pea soup was a delightful starter, the fish was perfectly prepared, and the desserts from the cake counter were beautifully presented at our table.
So impressed were we by this experience that we returned once more on our final day in Munich. This time, Mr. Markus Koch took excellent care of us, and once again, the service was flawless. The bistro manager also deserves mention—his warm and attentive presence on the restaurant floor ensures that every guest feels comfortable and valued.
We believe the Dallmayr management should truly recognize the dedication and excellence that Ms. Carolin Omlor brings to their team. Thanks to her and Mr. Koch, our experience was transformed from a disappointing start to a five-star finale. We look forward to returning to Munich and to Dallmayr Café-Bistro on...
Read moreToday we visited Café for my husband’s birthday, and while the food and atmosphere were both fantastic, the service unfortunately fell short in terms of attention to detail. We had high expectations, especially since I made a reservation and included a special note mentioning that it was my husband’s birthday. I had also requested a simple gesture, like placing a candle on our table to mark the occasion.
Unfortunately, this request was completely ignored, which was disappointing considering how special the day was for us. It’s a shame because the food was delicious, and the ambiance was wonderful—warm, cozy, and exactly what we were hoping for. However, the lack of acknowledgment of my request left us feeling a bit overlooked.
Overall, Café is definitely worth visiting for the food and setting, but I hope they can improve their client-focused service, especially for...
Read moreI ordered a milk hot chocolate and it was absolutely delicious! However, I agree with all the previous reviews of how some of the staff are extremely rude! I would like to think it is not because of race but I did not see any non-asians being treated the way me and my friends were treated. A German male was the one who was our waiter and he did not come to take our order for awhile. We put our hand up three times and he finally came and when he did, he said “Can you please just wait?!! I will be with you soon!” We were shocked at his response. And if that wasn’t bad enough, when my friend was paying, he grabbed her credit card from her hand and stuffed it in the machine! I was appalled by his behavior and he ruined our experience and ambiance. Come at your own risk if you...
