Pizzeria Grano — Restaurant in Munich

I have been trying to go to this place in munich for years now. Either they were full, the kitchen was closed or something else came in-between. Because I had heard so many great things about it i kept on trying, everytime I came back to the city. This time it finally worked, i was there right when the place opened but I was sadly quite underwhelmed. Maybe indeed because of the long build up. I am used to travel and eat alone, this visit was one of the more unwelcoming ones. I experienced the staff as quite unfriendly. For example they made a thing out of where to seat me (I was the first one in the restaurant), so i would not take away to much space for the crowds expected for lunch. It just felt pretentious and unwelcoming. I get that especially with a small place you need to plan but in the end it comes down to tone and attitude. Food was sadly also only quite ok-ish. Not bad but also nothing i would come back to. The prices, especially for munich,...

There are italian restaurants in Munich, and then there is Grano. The menu is small, with the essentials. But they have pizza and pasta of the day. I ordered an amazing pizza with ricotta and aubergine, and let me tell you... you could even taste the olive oil of the pizza bread. I mean, FRESH AND GOOD QUALITY. My husband ordered a pasta with pesto, and it was so fresh it reminded me to my grandma making pesto with the basil from her garden. I have never been in an Italian restaurant here in Munich, that serves Cynar, which is for me the best Italian aperitif by far. The other surprise was definitely the price. For that level of ingredients and food it's way better than other places. So please, do not miss this place if you are in Munich, it's the best Italian...

I wanted to come and eat at this place, however my first contact with the staff was enough. I was the first in line to speak with a waiter in order to get seated. I waited for a few minutes until the waiter came; when he came he decided to go and speak with the people behind me in line and then to speak with me. This was more than inadequate and inappropriate. When he wanted to speak with me he kindly informed me that there are no places available. I am sick of those kind of places where the waiters are "picking" the clients and ignoring young students like myself! I am totally disappointed by this place and will for sure avoid it...
