We've been home for a couple weeks from our trip now and we are still talking about the meals we had here. We try to eat at new places each time but once we found AbLa we went back 3 or 4 times I've lost count. There was a night we ate at fancier spot with nice views but small portions and as soon as we left my husband would ask if could we pop back to AbLa for just one more souvlaki. They were that good. The flavors were all so different and good you wanted to try them all. His favorite were the Pork belly & Cactus and the Black Angus, I loved the beetroot falafel. But there really was nothing we didn't like. We tried the salad, the smothered fries, and the peanut butter smashburger. Everything was top notch and so well priced. Its also a very casual atmosphere were you order at the counter and grab a table. Normally those locations lack ambiance but I thought it was as charming as the lovely sit downs that chania is known for. Beautiful lighting, greenery and tiling, The only tiny thing I would change about the experience is a better music playlist, which seemed to be made up of American rap music most the time. But even though that wasn't our vibe it definitely didn't keep us away. We also loved we could see the chef prepare the meals and our interactions with both him and the manager there made the experience so much better. they were both happy to answer questions and making suggestions for what to try next. Can't wait to come back in a couple of years and see what else they...
Read moreWe didnt enjoy our visit and dinner at AbLa at all. Food: this place is supposed to offer Greek souvlaki, in an elevated/ elegant(?) version of it. We tasted black angus, lamb and duck. there was zero balance between ingredients quantity (eg meat, vegetables, sauce, fries) and all wraps were floating in sauce. the wrap itself was absolutely tasteless vs real ones. Service: McDonalds level. you have to wait to order by yourself over the counter, get a buzzer and go back to receive the food. same happens if you want to add something in your order. again stand up, wait - order - go back to get the food. Price: 60€ for 2 adults (and a kid that got 1 chicken skewer and water). Guys, are you crazy ? 60€ for 4 wraps, 3 local beers, skewer, water, on self service mode? Atmosphere: nice concept, interior and exterior and very nice music. no A/C , so its hot if outdoor temperature is high and is super hot in WC and the tables outside WC door due to the open door from kitchen/warehouse.
(trust Afshin the above helps you to make improvements in the overall experience and sorry for being harsh (if you find so) but the taste and the price of what we have been served are not representative...
Read moreLocated near the heart of Chania, AbLa is a stylish and modern restaurant with a trendy, “hipster” vibe. It offers a fresh take on traditional Greek cuisine, served in a chic setting with pleasant outdoor seating. The ambiance is perfect for those looking to enjoy a contemporary dining experience that is both sophisticated and relaxed. The menu shines with its creative reinterpretations of Greek classics. The sandwich with battered shrimp is a must-try, proving to be absolutely delicious, and the pita with tender Black Angus beef is also a fantastic choice. While the main courses are excellent, the french fries were the only element that felt a bit ordinary in comparison. Despite its high-quality food and stylish presentation, AbLa remains remarkably affordable. With main dishes priced between €6 and €8, it offers exceptional value. It’s a highly recommended spot for a flavorful, modern, and budget-friendly...
