Normally, I do not write reviews, but this experience left me no choice.

The service was terrible. I waited more than an hour between standing in line and finally receiving my first dish (a simple starter). During that time, I saw at least two tables that arrived after me get served before me.

When I was about to leave, I asked the waiter about my order. Instead of answering politely, he shouted at me and waved his hands in my face saying, “THEY ARE COMING.” When I asked again, he repeated the same thing even more aggressively, as if I was the one at fault. I was so taken aback that I even didn’t react, but the situation left me feeling both angry and intimidated.

When I later went inside to pay, the same waiter ignored me and walked out, leaving another colleague to assist. He clearly took it personally, and so DID I! — since it seems he found it acceptable to treat me in such a disrespectful way, especially while I was alone.

I’ve been in Crete for a week now, eating at many different places, and none of them were anything like this. I was genuinely enthusiastic about trying this restaurant, especially after seeing the reviews, but I left completely disappointed.

As for the food, I paid €8.80 for just five shrimp. In other places, I actually ate much better meals for the same price.

After what happened, I could never recommend this place. It’s simply not...

Ill start off with the positives.

The service we received from the waitress was wonderful and very warm, the staff were all very busy and ensuring high service was kept. Unfortunately the food was a massive disappointment to us. We had ordered 3 dishes between two people which consisted of a Saganaki starter with pita (This was the only enjoyable part of the meal for us) then followed by the Seafood mix and a sea bass. The Seafood mix was very underwhelming and had no distinctive tastes, the only part we enjoyed from it was the squid but even that lacked flavour, the rest of the sea food mix was all bland, contrary to other reviews we both thought the octopus salad was very bad. The sea bass was quite simply a grilled sea bass topped with olive oil… very plain and flavourless. The two main meals really seemed to lack passion and heart as they were all basic. The meal was ended off with a complementary strawberry sorbet which was a nice touch and tastes nice. Overall we left the restaurant really disappointed and unsatisfied. We had tried other restaurants in Chania which were substantially better for not much more. If you are in Chania and are looking to eat an exciting meal and feel satisfied and feel like you spent your money well, unfortunately this place will not provide...

I’m not one to complain, and I definitely don’t enjoy being critical of restaurants—especially when traveling. But this particular place, which was by far the most hyped restaurant we reserved during our week in Crete (we were based in Chania), ended up being a real letdown.

First off, we waited over an hour for our main courses to arrive. Mistakes happen, and we can understand the occasional wrong order—but in combination with everything else, it felt like the final straw. We were also seated in the far back corner of the street, right next to parked cars, which really killed the ambiance. Unlike every other reservation we made during the trip—where we were given great tables and excellent service—this experience felt like we were completely forgotten.

To top it all off, we were given a complimentary dessert: strawberry ice cream. While the gesture was kind, I’ve hated strawberry ice cream since I was a kid, and we were honestly just looking forward to getting a treat next door to salvage the evening. It ended up being awkward and uncomfortable.

Crete, and especially Chania, is full of incredible food and warm, attentive service. This was the only place that truly...

Brilliant food for friendly prices. This is easily one of the best restaurants we've tried so far in Crete. We got a table around 16.30 which seemed to be a busy hour for them. Surrounded by locals helps the atmosphere. Service is okay, not overly friendly but neither the opposite. Staff was pretty busy and it took a while to get our table and the first drinks. Whatever the time was, it was worth the wait. We tried 4 starters which were sublime. The fried squid was tender and lovely crisp. The octopus was charcoal grilled and topped with lovely olive oil. The filled, veggies shrimp and herbs, mushrooms are to die for. Would go back for those alone. The fried cheese balls are lovely fluffy with 2 flavors of cheese. Never had something alike. The sardines for main were yummy but basic. However the charcoal grilled fish was mouthwatering. Simply served with some roasted veggies, you could serve me this any time. Perfectly cooked and so tasty .... Desert was some creme with honey and nice liquor. Served as a complimentary. Great time, for little over 50 bucks incl drinks. Nothing shy of amazing.

Excellent food! Apart from the menu there are several options already cooked that you can check in a display at the kitchen. Fresh fish at reasonable price and plenty of mezedhes and salads. Great wine list with plenty of Cretan options. The only con is the maitre, his manners and his way to say the things are absolutely harsh. When we order our menu and the wine (a bottle of Creta white wine -muscat grapes- from the monastery of Agia Triada) we asked him in a very polite way that we would like the wine cold, he answered us rudely that the wine would be in the right temperature for it, 16° C. We didn't say anything but we had to ask (very gently again) for a bucket of ice. The wine was not cold enough for us! Anyway, it is a very good restaurant. The food (and that's the important thing) was great... We ordered Cretan salad, stuffed zucchini flowers with Cretan cheese, pork with orange sauce and squid with vegetables (stew). Absolutely yummy! The dessert (a kind of cheese flan with honey) and the rakia was on the house. A wonderful dinner for 45€ I recommend it

Good restaurant to try few Greek/Crete specialties. Prices are ok, quality is good, and choices are good. Service speed may appear slow for Americans but remember it is in the Latin culture to sit a eat slow. It would be considered rude from the staff to serve you too fast and not let you the time to enjoy your food and eat slowly; on top of that, taking your time to eat slowly and seated is known to be healthier (try to find a native person obese! It's impossible!) The local beer matches perfectly the local atmosphere, there are all good (I tried them all!) And you can order them eyes closed, no bad surprises guaranteed. Prefer grill fish to fried so you can actually taste it as it should be. Reviews make a big deal of the fish soup, I don't know why... It is meh, and it can even be compared with the best fish soup you can ever have which is the "bouillabaisse" (french specialty from Marseille). If you don't order a dessert from the menu, you'll get one anyway on the house, most of the time ice cream. Most staff speaks English well enough and is friendly.
