Attention, Coffee Lovers & Frequent Cafe Visitors - if you are in Chania, Crete THIS is your go-to cafe. Please do not waste another second looking for cafes in the area, this is honestly the best one. The location is amazing, right on the corner lot so it’s easily accessible. It’s self-service - you order & pay inside, then when your order is called you retrieve it from the outside countertop. There are tables outside and a few seats inside. When you are done, the courteous thing to do is to return your cups/plates/water carafe to one of the baristas by placing it on the counter where you collected your order. Leave a tip by resting it on your mug saucer or placing it in the cup which is by the checkout counter.

I wish I had visited this place sooner during my stay. The staff are so kind, patient and friendly - both to locals and to foreigners. One of the baristas began speaking to me in Greek (because he thought I was Greek) and although I speak a little, I said “I’m sorry” because I didn’t catch what he said, and he apologized and quickly switched to English, which I thought was very sweet. They are more than capable of taking your order in English, and they are evidently skilled at preparing beverages. There are several options - latte, flat white, cappuccino, Greek coffee, etc.

Concluding with this - the best cafe in Chania is Monogram, on the corner of Chatzimichali Ntaliani &...

Have been giving this place the benefit of the doubt by continuing to return, since April 2023, so when I say that the staff is unwelcoming and inhospitable, do not respond with the excuse that it is now August. Thankfully I have found another cafe in Chania that suits my needs and has a warm welcoming atmosphere, and higher quality products. Also I don't appreciate the fact that even though I have been paying by credit card for four months now, suddenly when I bring my relatives visiting from overseas my same credit card is conveniently rejected by your POS. Some respect for your customers regardless of where they come from would do your business well, although I doubt anything will change. Yours is a business that doesn't care about the hospitality industry or professionalism.

The bartender at Monogram The Bar however, professional and hospitable. Would go back...

Everything about this cafe is perfect, I only wish there was more! The coffee is spectacular. Average coffee in Greece is generally better than the average coffee in, for example, France or the UK. So, it’s really special that the coffee at Monogram makes really good coffee. It’s self-service and the staff strikes a great balance between neglecting you and being over-bearing. The cafe is located on a very cute pedestrian street which had a lovely cool breeze. And of course, a cat which is always around, asleep but aloof. I had two days in Chania at the end of my trip in Crete and I spent a good part of that hanging out here and reading, slowly preparing myself for normal life. Now if only they had more food and I would never...

A pleasant spot for great barista-grade coffee. The snacks they offer are also genuinely tasty — the cheesecake with dulce de leche is excellent, and the sandwiches are really good too. Fresh bread, quality ingredients, and nice and juicy. Staff are friendly and helpful, and they also sell their own coffee beans. There are plenty of tables outside, making it a great place to sit and people-watch while enjoying your coffee. The only thing I’d improve: the packaging of the sandwiches. They’re sealed with tape, but it would be more eco-friendly (and just nicer overall) to use folded sandwich paper instead. Still, this place is definitely worth a visit — perfect for anyone looking for great coffee in Greece or a quick but enjoyable breakfast.
