Heraklion Old Port Apartments — Hotel in Municipality of Heraklion

If you don't mind old fashion Greek design, that was a great apartment: extremely clean (!)(and I am super picky about that), with all the basics in the kitchen and the bathroom (including Nespresso coffee machine, capsules, milk, sugar, very good quality shampoo, liquid soap (and not those cheap hotel toiletries), and white, crisp linen. The building is rather apartment building then a hotel with interphone board and camaras, which did add to the feeling of security. Three of us stayed only one night, but the place is centrally located and fully equipped for much longer stays. Our apartment was on the third floor with the corner balcony accessible from both living room (with two single beds) and bedroom. The building has a very small elevator (for North American standards), but it did the job for bringing up the luggage to the third floor. Sofia was very helpful and kind even though we were 3 hrs later then initially estimated. There is a City Centre garage near by and we paid 12 euros for one night (which is somewhat steep) but we could not find the parking on the street as the blue lines are reserved for the residents. La struttura si trova in una posizione strategica per visitare Heraklion e i dintorni. È a pochi passi dal centro, ideale se la sera non si desidera prendere l’auto per cenare fuori città. L’unica nota leggermente negativa riguarda la possibilità di trovare parcheggio nelle vicinanze, che può risultare difficile. Una soluzione, consigliata anche dalla struttura, è il Porto Parking, un parcheggio a pagamento (circa 5€ per la notte). Va però segnalato che viene richiesto di lasciare le chiavi dell’auto: nel mio caso, avendo un’auto a noleggio e preferendo mantenerne la piena responsabilità, ho sempre evitato, trovando come “scusa” il fatto di doverla utilizzare per uscire a cena.

Passando all’alloggio, l’appartamento è essenziale, adatto per un soggiorno di qualche giorno in città. Non offre particolari punti di eccellenza: un alloggio “senza infamia e senza lode”, che svolge bene la sua funzione di base per chi vuole visitare la zona. Le note negative, purtroppo, non sono mancate. • All’arrivo abbiamo trovato prodotti da bagno non monouso, probabilmente lasciati da ospiti precedenti. • Come è noto a Creta (e in generale in Grecia) non si può gettare la carta igienica nel water: ogni bagno è quindi dotato di cestino apposito. Nei cinque giorni di soggiorno, però, nessuno è passato a ritirare l’immondizia. Siamo stati noi stessi a svuotare il cestino in un contenitore pubblico e a sostituire la busta. • Dal WC proveniva un odore sgradevole, tanto da costringerci ad acquistare un deodorante per ambienti per attenuarlo. • Il Wi-Fi in camera era praticamente inutilizzabile. • In cinque giorni la camera non è mai stata sistemata né pulita. • La reception, di fatto, era quasi inesistente: la signora presente dalle 18/19 in poi rimandava sempre al ragazzo del turno mattutino, che però abbiamo trovato una sola volta; nelle altre mattine, tra le 8:00 e le 9:00, la reception era...

Very comfortable apartments with a friendly stuff. The hotel is in a perfect place between city center and Old Port. The stuff is very professional, attentive and friendly.
