Akratos Oinos — Restaurant in Municipality of Thessaloniki

Congratulations to those who had a good experience at this restaurant. We went because one of their dishes had been recommended to us, but honestly, it was nothing exceptional. The food was acceptable, but the worst part was the service.

Upon arrival, we informed them that we would stay for an hour, or at most an hour and a half, as the table was reserved. When we finished, we might have lost track of time, but a staff member appeared with very poor manners, abruptly clearing the table and saying he was sorry but needed it back. He reminded us, in an inappropriate tone, that we had said we would only stay for an hour and a half.

There are many ways to politely ask customers to vacate a table, especially when they are not children. In over 60 years, I have never experienced anything like this.

Fortunately, Thessaloniki has many far better places with excellent service. This one, however, I do not recommend. Not because of the food, which was acceptable, but because of the dreadful service, which to me is just as important. The treatment, the atmosphere, and the overall experience make the difference, and in this case, they lost...

Unfortunately I have to give only one star. We met there with friends, we were told by staff in the beginning that this table where we were sitting can be occupied by us only two hours because of the next reservation, we agreed but time flew so fast and after the time the staff simply started to clean the table, they didn't give us any other option, didn't ask to move to another table (around was plenty of free tables), they simply kicked us out. We were not sitting there for two hours with one beer only, we were ordering something new to test all the time, so, I'm really surprised with this kind behaviour, the restaurant was almost empty, less tourists after the summer season and they simply, very rudely kicked us out. By the way, the food is not as good as described by many others, I ordered food I tried last year in Krete and I like very much and it was...

Delicious, authentic, traditional Greek dishes in a wonderful atmosphere and extremely reasonably priced.

We had several zucchini-based starters that were delicious, and had wonderful traditional Greek dishes that involved seafood, lamb, and meats (all different dishes). Incredible flavor profiles and more than adequate portions.

To say that the service is phenomenal would be a grave understatement. Very friendly staff that are happy to explain the dishes (some of which were a little mysterious to us as tourists) and very honest when we started looking at some of the more... Interesting... Of the dishes. Ultimately, with a little friendly guidance and a wonderful atmosphere, we had one of the best dining experiences we've had in Greece so far.

If you're visiting Thessaloniki this is a must-experience....
