I was born and raised in Guatemala. I have also traveled across Guatemala trying many of our local dishes. With this in mind, I have to say that El Adobe is easily one of the best restaurants in Guatemala.

The food is absolutely incredible! Fresh ingredients, good seasoning, decent-size portions, and authentic flavors. I visited this restaurant three different times during my weekend stay at Antigua based on how good the food was! Each dish comes with freshly hand-made tortillas that are made with blue corn. If I had to recommend a dish, I would recommend that you try a dish that offers you a taste of our 5 iconic dishes. Their mole with sweet plantains is out of this world!

The restaurant has a rooftop, plays live music on weekends, and is well-decorated. The staff is very attentive, efficient,...

I have had breakfast at the place, the food lacks flavor, and is very simple, you have to keep in mind that there are dishes that seem to be incomplete, in Guatemala it is unacceptable that not all of them include beans, (those that are included are not refried), They charge for everything, (they don't even offer you a complimentary glass of water) the service was very slow and it wasn't even full. Another poor aspect is the toilets, there is only one for men and one for women, when I went, a large family monopolized it and it was impossible to even go in to wash their hands, if it was full... The only positive thing is the staff, who are...

My son and I had a single night in Antiqua on the way to Sail fish on the Guatemalan West Coast. When we said that we wanted traditional local fare, a couple of expats directed us here. Everything about the experience was superb. Food, atmosphere, service…all of it. The menu had some pictures of the dishes which were very helpful. Our Spanish is non-existent but it didn’t matter. Our server was very kind and helpful. We choose local dishes and were not disappointed. Nice list of cocktails too. Superb. We finished the meal with a couple of double espresso’s. Wonderful experience. We were the only non-Spanish speakers in...

The flavors were good, but my chicken was so chewy and hard that I could hardly bite into it. When the waiter asked me how everything was, I told him the chicken was hard to be honest. I wasn’t expecting anything to change and was just letting him know, but his reaction was strange. He just walked to the kitchen and then walked past us and never brought it up again. The cooks kept peaking out around the corner at us after that. They automatically add a 10% tip to the bill. We were literally the only people in the restaurant (should have taken the hint) and they hardly checked on us.
