Edison & Jupiter Specialty Cafe and gastrolab — Restaurant in Budapest

We went here for breakfast yesterday because of the great reviews. We both wanted to sit outside on the terrace in the sun and were surprised when we received our coffee in to-go cups and our two Eggs Benedict (he had one with salmon, and I had one with pulled chicken) served in cardboard boxes.

When I asked if I could have my Eggs Benedict on a proper plate instead of eating from a box, they told us that proper tableware was only available for guests dining indoors. So, we decided to sit inside, and everything was great from then on.

The service was friendly, and the food looked wonderful.

However, later on, my partner developed severe stomach pain and vomiting and was diagnosed with a foodborne illness caused by salmonella.

As a result, we had to cancel two days of our vacation plans. Very...

Good. Nothing extraordinary. Of course the location helps a lot this place. Just took a piece of cake with cherries and a cappuccino; payed almost 5000ft with the service… a little bit too expensive in my opinion.

The cake was fine, very sweet. But then again… 2500 for a very small piece of cake, doesn’t make me wanna run back to this place. The coffee was really good.

And also… we waited around 15 min for them to come and take the orders and around 20 min to actually get the coffees and cakes. I would understand if after waiting all this time, we would get everything together, but not… we all got our order at different times. So basically we didn’t take a coffee together with friends, but we were just sitting in the same table drinking whenever we got the coffees 😅

There are many good coffeeshops serving specialty coffee in Budapest, but just few of the serve really special coffee as they do in Edinson & Jupiter.

I have been here just twice, but both times I was more than satisfied with quality of coffee beans. This time I had double espresso from Burundi which was pretty fruity as a good 3rd way espresso should be and V60 of a premium/special roast which they serve in dedicated cups. Both were fantastic and it is good they have plenty of beans to choose from, ot just depends what you prefer.

Their space is really well looking and comfortable, right in the city centre. Even if it is bit pricey, there is a quality behind the service & coffee, so it is worthy to give them a try. They also have amazingly good looking cakes and also they are...
