I recently dined at LR Italia, and unfortunately, it was a deeply disappointing experience.
The vitello tonnato was dry, flavorless, and lacked enough sauce to enhance the dish. The gin tonic strawberry cocktail was bitter and unpleasant. The waiter was unprofessional, placing cutlery on a dirty table, spilling water without wiping it up, and failing to inform us about unavailable dishes. He also didn’t smile or speak clearly, making the whole experience uncomfortable.
We were seated by the window, feeling like animals on display at a zoo. While other tables were served bread as a starter, we were ignored. The room was uncomfortably cold, and the table lacked basic condiments like salt or pepper.
The same cutlery was used for both appetizers and main courses, which is unacceptable for a restaurant claiming to be upscale. Our water was left in an empty ice bucket, and the waiter poured it clumsily.
The wait for food was excessively long. The truffle tortellini were overcooked to the point of being mushy and had to be returned. The calamari were tolerable, but without salt on the table, they lacked seasoning.
The music was unbearably loud – I came for a peaceful dinner, not a concert. The waiter brought back the same tortellini dish 10 minutes later, claiming it was “fixed,” but it wasn’t. At that point, we left out of frustration.
The rosemary potatoes were overcooked, bland, and lacked seasoning. For a meal that cost 42,000 HUF, this was utterly disappointing. I...
Read moreThe restaurant looked promising due to all of the recommendations. My wife and I decided we wanted to have our last dinner in Budapest in the most recommended place. It's located in a rather central area. This is an intimate Italian cuisine restaurant focusing on small number of guests. For starters, we ordered the green salad with parmesan and the white beans soup with prawns which is the chef's recommendation. The salad was 3 ingredients salad - a pile of rocket leafs, cherry tomatoes and slices of parmesan. It came dry, without any dressing. The soup reminded me a traditional Jewish stew - Cholent, which is good but this soup was without any flavor. We hoped the main courses would be better. We were wrong. By a mile. My wife ordered sea food pasta and I ordered the Carbonara. Both dishes were salty as if those were with salt sauce - in some point I thought if I'd continue to eat I'd have salt poisoning. In addition, the portion of Carbonara I had in my plate was about 4-5 spoons (you can see in the picture I attached). If that is not enough, we waited forever for the pastas. We alsk ordered different local white wines and received a splash of wine in each glass which may equivalent a shot. The restaurant is not expensive nor cheap. In conclusion, unfortunately, a very very bad experience. We left Budapest with a bad taste (or salty taste)...

I went with my family and we all found the food fantastic. We ordered 1 appetizer, 4 mains and 3 desserts. I would recommend the pasta A.O.P. with prawns and chilli, 10/10. I am very picky about my pasta and am often disappointed with pasta I get from other restaurants when not done perfectly. The sauce, firmness of the pasta, was perfect.
Wasn’t the best tiramisu I ever had, a little too runny for my taste for what I consider a traditional tiramisu, but still pretty good. Cheesecake was great, pistachio brûlée is amazing for those who like pistachio. We just had to pass our compliments to the chef because it was that good, so that should say it all.
They were so sweet that they even brought 4 (!!!) lemonade shots on the house for each of us (which was also really nice, definitely could’ve had 7 of those 🍋)
TL;DR: stop looking at reviews and go there, you won’t be disappointed. Same prices as typical North American fine dining, and...
