AVOID THIS RESTAURANT if you don’t intend to wait your meal for more than one and a half hour! No service at all, and when you asked them why it takes so long time, they become angry! Yes, it sounds incredible but it’s true. We had booked a table for 5 persons. When we came, they had forgotten the reservation. They found however a table for us. We were ready to wait with patience as we had been told that casher food takes time to be prepared. But 2 hours!!! When we tried to ask something, the guy was unfriendly, he just avoided us or said it was not it’s fault. He had the same behaviour with the others clients. After one and a half hour he came finally to our table, and said that ... they didn’t have enough salmon to make the normal portions that we had ordered, «  is it ok with smaller portions but cheaper? » At that time we were so hungry that we accepted, it was no idea to discuss. We had to wait another 30 minutes. The food came finally after nearly two hours waiting, the food was ok, a little peace of fish and some salad, but the quantity was too minimal. And when we want to pay, we see that they had count the full price for big portions. We had to protest again, and finally, without one single word of excuse, they took away the price for the bottle of wine. It has been the worse restaurant experience for all our life. So horrible that we laugh at it today as if we have been in a...

I went with my girlfriend to this restaurant under recommendation of an Hungarian Jew for the best kosher restaurant in Budapest. I need to say, we weren't disappointed of the expectations. The service was very good, the staff was honest and helpful to us that do not know Hungarian kitchen that well by recommending us 2 very good dishes that we splitted. The food was high quality and well presented with good portions, and you could feel the tradition of real Hungarian cuisine. The place was very warm and cozy while still staying distinguished. The prices were pretty low for a kosher restaurant compared to what I am used to which surprised me quite a lot, usually these type of restaurant tend to be on the expensive side (reasonably, considering the expensive meat and ingredients they pick) If you are looking for a kosher meat restaurant with Hungarian cuisine In Budapest I highly...

Terrible service, bad waiters, even if the food was good I cannot recommend this place - very bad atmosphere. bad vibes - very disappointed for a kosher place - you have to respect your customers. We arrived someone told us that they didn't have vegetables and fish with a weird tone of voice. Then we wanted to order the waiter was drunk - he almost fell on the table. After finishing our main dishes since 1h without no one in the restaurant - We wanted to order a desert and the waitress told us with a smile that they don't have vegetables. We understood that all the waiters went to take drugs or alcohol behind the restaurant. They were all so weird. We decided to leave and waited the bill during 1h. Once we got the bill, it was the double of what we ordered!!!! Shame on you - you are kosher place, it means you have to be with respect and classy. DON'T GO...

The absolutely authentic heimishe fare your Hungarian grandmother would cook to you. You'll remember your childhood days and love it. Our children love every bit of it even if some of the french fries are still only half cooked. In any event it's a great experience every time (if you steer clear of the cholent/solet). The staff and other patrons are very friendly and forthcoming even though some speak neither Hebrew nor English (I used my broken Hungarian). Prices are very reasonable. Bottom line: If you know what to expect, you'll love it. Guaranteed.

Hanna Restaurant, nestled in the courtyard beside the Orthodox Synagogue on Kazinczy Street, feels like a culinary time capsule—rich in history, tradition, and nostalgia. Founded in 1920, this glatt kosher (strictly kosher) venue serves hearty Hungarian–Jewish fare infused with touches of Israeli flair, thanks to their new executive chef who recently arrived from Israel. The interior has been redesigned to offer a tasteful, elevated ambience while honoring the restaurant’s legacy

The service was good. The atmosphere was busy. The food was fresh. It is a classic old-school strictly religious restaurant that could be easily in Williamsburg New York. But it is in Budapest. There are some local dishes. Israelis may want to ask for extra spice because it may be on the less spicy (ie: bland) side. But it is nice portions and fresh. The picture is the beef stew which is a stew version of the Hungarian Goulash.
