On the final day of our trip to Reykjavik, we stumbled upon Posthus Food Hall, just around the corner from our hotel. We had walked past it several times, already set on dining elsewhere, but what a mistake that was! As soon as we stepped inside, the vibrant atmosphere and delicious aromas hit us, and we instantly knew we had missed out.

The hall buzzes with energy, packed with locals and tourists alike, navigating through bustling aisles lined with diverse food stalls. Each stall offers a unique glimpse into global cuisines, providing an impressive variety of flavors that you don’t often find in one spot. From savory to sweet, every craving was catered to, and the quality of food was top-notch.

The prices were also a pleasant surprise, especially for Reykjavik, where dining out can really stretch your wallet. Posthus Food Hall offers great value, making it a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious meals without the hefty price tag typical of other local restaurants.

Leaving Posthus, we were filled with both delicious food and a bit of regret for not discovering it sooner. If you’re in Reykjavik, don’t make the same mistake we did—give Posthus Food Hall a try early...

Nicest food hall I have been in. The building is old and used to be the main post office in Reykjavík, and I like that the interior has been allowed to retain the old-fashioned charm and wooden floors. The atmosphere is friendly and there are several different dining rooms with slightly different ambiances you can choose from. It would have been a very cozy meal if not for the music, which was too loud to allow for quiet conversation - you have to raise your voice to be heard over the music and that raises the noise level to a degree where one does not want to linger over the food (which is probably why it is so loud, but I know I wouldn't want to work there with that noise in my ears). I can therefore not give the atmosphere more than three stars, and those are for the welcoming interiors and friendly staff.

I had the Bhangra Salad from Funky Bhangra, which blends together traditional Indian flavours with a nice balance of fresh greens, sweet pumpkin, tart mango and spicy (but not hot) chicken vindaloo. My companion had a very good pizza marinara from Pizza Popolare. We both enjoyed the food and would eat there again if the music were turned...

Came in on a Sunday at 21:20 the place shuts at 22:00. I ordered fish and chips from Finsen and was served by a young lady, she took my order charged me 5 400isk and gave me a buzzer to sit down all was good. I waited then my buzzer went upon arrive to collect my food the same lady served me, I asked if I could have some red sauce and salt. She told me the restaurant was shut. She had just served me my meal with no option of sauces etc. I asked if I can have sauce again incase she misunderstood me. She shouted at me telling me the restaurant was shut and to go to another place to get sauce. I asked her to be calm she muttered in Islandic to me assuming slagging me off. The concept the whole place is amazing but having such an obnoxious staff member ruined the whole experience and that is why you’ve received a 1 star because after all the food could be amazing but if your staff are obnoxious the whole things pointless. Would recommend the place not that stall.
