Food (4/5): If you are a seafood lover, then Carnival De Goa is a must-visit for you. The restaurant has definitely managed to strike a perfect balance with an extensive menu and impeccable taste. We started off with Butter Garlic Prawns which I would like to mention as my personal recommendation. I am not a big seafood lover and honestly don't experiment much but the experience with the softest of prawns smothered in thick butter garlic paste surely opened up a new horizon. As the food here is primarily Mangalorean and Goan, we just had to order the chicken cafreal. I have had many variations of this dish in and outside of Goa and this one is pretty close to being the authentic 'high-on-coriander' flavor. Next in line was the immaculate Crab curry. The perfect blend of spices and sweetness mixing well with the crab meat just made the dinner perfect for us, although as a noob, it was a bit of a task for me to crack it open to eat it. A couple of new trials for me were the Poi and the Sannas. Poi is a slightly husky bread made with wheat and white flour and Sannas are the Goan versions of the infamous idli. Both go really well with most of the gravies but my personal favorite was the Sanna. We ended the meal with the soulful SolKadi which is primarily made from Kokum and has digestive properties.
Ambience (3/5): The people at Carnival De Goa have put a decent effort in giving their visitors a feel of Goa by the look of their furniture and the usual dull lighting and shadiness of the shacks that are found there. The music was pretty soothing and the place is pretty airy. Opt for the non-smoking zone if you can't handle people puffing them out. The deal breaker for me was a super-loud group of people who were not considerate about other people's experience and kept on babbling and made it pretty difficult for us to enjoy our food at the fullest.
Service (4/5): No complaints here as the staff was very professional and knew all the dishes inside out which helped us choose the right dishes. If they could probably take care of the nuisance, I would have given them a 5/5.
Value for money (3/5): Cost for 1 person including a starter, main course, and a drink will be close to 1000 INR which in my opinion is fine if you are a seafood lover, otherwise the prices of the dishes do seem to be on the...
Read moreDinner With Family & Friends Having heard about this restaurant from my customer we decided to go with friends for a weekend dinner. Since my wife is a Mangalorean and very fond off sea food and there is a lot of similarity in the cuisine, we choose this place. My friend made the reservation for the table and reached on time. The restaurant has ample parking space at the back of the restaurant and it is shared with another restaurant known as Grill House. The restaurant is on the second floor; they also cater to big groups on 3rd floor. There is a small lift to take you up, which accommodates 4 passengers at a time. The seating is both indoors and outdoors (Garden Style) since my wife and my nephew had already reached ahead of us they had seated outdoors. We made a mistake of sitting outdoors and it was very noise, since the restaurant is on the highway (Old Madras Road) you can only hear vehicle noise nothing else. We were also very uncomfortable because we were sitting in the smoking zone with 9-year-old friend’s daughter exposed to lot of smoke. The loud music being played and with the vehicle noise, we could hardly hear each other. We strongly recommend that you choose seating indoors, if you are with family and kids. We were 5 adults and one kid.
The vegetarians ordered Peri Peri Fries, Raw Banana Fritters & Goan Paneer Chilly for starters and the non-vegetarians ordered Pork Bafat, Butter Garlic Prawns & Chicken Peri Peri for starters. My friends and my wife liked the Butter Garlic Prawn so much that they repeated the order and the vegetarian starters was okay and nothing great.
Main course vegetarian ordered simple Goan Vegetable Pulao with Raita, Vegetable Caldin & Papad. The non-vegetarians ordered Black Pomfret Curry & Sannas. Both my friend’s daughter and wife were not okay with the fish curry because of the smell, then I had to share my vegetarian curry with them. The best part was my wife was freaking out on the fish curry and sannas since she is used to this kind of cuisine.
For dessert, we ordered Marshmallow Walnut Brownie & Bebinca with ice-cream (Indo-Portuguese dessert). My nephew is a brownie freak he thoroughly enjoyed and also shared the brownie with my friend’s daughter and the Bebinca was not good and it was not like the way we had...

Overall very disappointed. Not many options for fresh catch and the mud crab and lobsters were too small to order. Better go to Grill House than Carnival de Goa. Was here for Christmas with my parents and I fully regretted my experience here. Restaurant was not crowded, there was just another table of 4 apart from us.
Drinks 5/5 they have a great bar and it’s the same bar shared with Grill house. If you love cocktails and mocktails give them a try! They have good beer options too.
Ambience 4* (Music and vibes are great but can do better with the seating comfort) Service 2* Staff are not attentive and lethargic. When I’ve ordered so many starters they just kept bringing everything one after another without any attention to understand that the food would get cold because we were trying to eat slow and enjoy our time. Also one of the beef croquets was burnt when they served it and when I highlighted it to the service staff, he was arrogant to convince me that it’s fine to eat it. Food - Overall 1* Pork Chilly 4/5- This saved our meal experience Beef croquets 2/5- Too small on a plate. Nothing great, feels like breadcrumbs and crust with some spicy paste inside. Prawn Rissois and Baked Crab with chips Both are the same dish with lots of black pepper in it. Lacks balance and it’s a cheat that I have the same stuffing in both, couldn’t make any difference of the prawn meat or the crab meat. It felt like I just wasted money ordering the same dish. This was a scam! 1/5 for both Mutton Sukka 2/5 - Lots of turmeric and sweetness from the onions. If you want boiled mutton with onions and turmeric then order this. Seafood Omlette - 3/5 Decent Omelette but overcooked and lacked an equal bite ratio of prawn, calamari and mussels. Pork Vindaloo 2/5 - Didn’t feel authentic at all, just felt like a sweet vinegar tangy curry with overpowering cinnamon and clove flavour. Sanna 3/5 - Decent Sannas lacks flavour Neer Dosa 1/5 - Too dry for a neer dosa.
They gave a 15% discount but I’m raging that I wasted a special occasion with family on such a horrible...
