Naachiyar’s is an old and small restaurant located in Ulsoor. The Ambience is simple and needs an overhaul but we were greeted with a similar aroma that could take me back in time. Got seated with a TV right above my head playing old Tamil songs which was nostalgia. I had already made up my mind on what I wanted to eat and it was obviously the Kozhi Kothu but I let my family members decide on their preferences as well. Finally, the order was placed – Bun Parotta, Vada Curry and Veg Kothu got added along with my option. Service was good and the food came out in good time. They did state in advance that the Bun Parotta will take time and it was worth the wait. The Kozhi Kothu definitely satisfied my cravings and I took my own time to finish enjoying every bite. The Chicken Kurma and the raitha that’s served with the Kothu are perfect accompaniments. Mind you the Kurma spice level can be high for some, which on the contrary is how I like it. The Bun Parotta was this nice small, fluffy, well prepared bread that with the Vada Curry was a perfect combination. Oh, and I totally forgot the Paneer Starter that was good as well and was a good choice for the vegetarians in the group but this place is a paradise for hard core non-vegetarians. I would have loved to try the Biryani and the meals here but the Kothu itself was very filling, which means I have to visit this...
Read moreA first class Chettinad food experience in namma Bengaluru!!! Though the place is quiet small, I would suggest to drop in early for lunch to have a pleasant ambience of the place to sit and relish their amazing food. We had ordered mutton soup and for the starters went for Yera Varuval which were top notch. Then came the show stopper "ONE of the most yummiest Chettinad Mutton Biryani to literally burst ur taste buds". The mutton biryani was very delicious to every rice and mutton was very tender and juicy the flavours have blended very well with the rice and mutton. An authentic Chettinad taste very much evident in all their dishes. We finished things off with a spicy butter milk which would give you good digestion after having a spicy meal. Adding to the hospitality, their staff were v ry courteous and happy to explain their food and what goes in into them and too pleasing to give you the feel food factor of dining in their restaurant. This should be a must visit place if you are in search of authentic Chettinad food in...
Read moreI’ve been here several times over the years. As someone from Tamil Nadu, I am a big fan of this place because they make mouth-watering, authentic chettinad style food. While I have had their awesome meals on most visits, I’ve also tried their biryanis esp. the yera (prawn) biryani which was absolutely scrumptious!
I would recommend all the biryanis (which I believe is made with Seeraga Samba rice) as they’re well-made and super-tasty and so are the gravies that go pretty well with parotas. I have tried various fish items too which were all well-cooked and tasty—yet to try the rabbit which I’m sure would be excellent too. The staff are very friendly and the service is pretty good. The ambience of it is good to and the only issue I found was with the entrance, that has a height restriction so you gotta be careful while entering. The staff have been trained to warn you each time so this has never been an issue for me despite being tall and I’ve only had good memories here so I’m happy to give the five stars that it...
