We were there on christmas eve for dinner. The ambiance is good with an industrial feel to it. Both indoor and outdoor seating options are good. all the tables have two menu cards. one is for BSC which has snacks, startes, chaats and maincourse of both south and north indian and the other is for kappaX which serves kerala cuisine.
First up we wanted to order 'karimenu fish' from KappaX menu. the BSC waiter said he will send the KappaX guy for taking order. he came and took the rder. the fish was good.
then we ordered "Naga chilli Dahi ke Kabab" from BSC menu. The waiter has cautioned that it will be a bit spicy. We said thats fine. when the dahi ke kabab arrived, there was a tiny bit of chiili powder sprinked on top of dahi ke kababs. first of all these kababs are unlike the dahi kababs I've had before at some other restaurant ( I loved it there). Here, there is very less amount of curd in it. It is 95% outer shell made of batter and 5% dahi filling. My wife never eats curd. she doesnt even like the smell of it. Just to try I've given her a kabab with out telling what it is and guess what, she didn't even notice there's curd in it. That's how unlike dahi ke kabab they are. Secondly they are so mild. the only flavour in the dish is from the mint chutney that's given as accompaniment.
Next up, we ordered 'methi vadi ki tehari'. It's listed under Biriyanis in the menu. It's not the real 'Dum' biriyani but the kind served in most Udupi restaurants. Basically when the order is given they heat up a bit of biriyani gravy, add basmati rice, season it and serve. The dish itself is good. flavorful but I didn't like the 'besan ki ghatiya' in it. they could have added vegetables instead. and the name of the dish doesn't prepare you for besan ki ghatiya in it. It is served with very little amount of raita withit. We've asked for one more cup of raita but the waiter never came back.
So finally we asked for the bill. the waiter again didnt come back for 10 minutes. So we went up to him.he finally got it after some time. When I saw the bill I noticed that the 'karimenu fish' was not included in it. he said, thats a different bill and I would have to goto their counter and pay it. If they could come to table and take the order, why cant they come to the table with bill and collect the amount?
Over this place could be a hit and miss for food and thats acceptable. But the service is pathetic. That too when the restaurant is just getting started at 7:00 PM and not many customers in it. It looks like there are just two waiters. I could see a couple of guys in Blazers. they do nothing. As good as manequines. When I was enquiring the waiter for the bill, these guys didn't even ask if there's any problem? Nobody asked if we liked the food and the experience.
And yeah, we were didn't even offered...
