Detailed Review here. Read at the End for Summary. Wanted to go to a good Chinese restaurant and found this. Other reviews mentioned it as one of the best Chinese restaurant in Bangalore. This is part of Taj Vivanta at MG Road and the entrance is opposite to 1 MG mall. There is valet parking available. Restaurant is on the grond floor, towards the left after entering. We were in the first few to enter as we reached right at the opening hours. The interiors is what catches your attention. It's neatly done with red color part of theme. The seats are comfortable and each one seems to have a different view and look. I had mine towards the kitchen, which was a sight to see some of the preparations and a huge steamer. The service is top notch. We ordered Lotus Stem and Chestnut in honey sauce with Mushroom stuffed dimshum. The lotus stem dish had crunch due to the chestnut and otherwise the taste was nothing great. Dimshum also were very light in flavor but with the side condiments, it was fine. We also got kimchi on the side(complimentary), which added to the overall available flavors. Main course was crispy noodles and sauted greens. The noodles with gravy had mild flavor which tasted good but we expected the taste to be unique rather than a general taste. We enjoyed eating greens which primarily had snap peas, asparagus and some bok choy. However we expected to have more of green leafy vegetables, which usually in my experience chinese greens refer to. Desert was dates pancake with icecream. The person serving went out of his way to offer bringing dessert in two seperate plates for me and my wife with separate icecreams, which was a nice gesture and I liked. Icecream was really good and had very crramy texture and did not melt very fast. The dates pancake was more of a dates paste with some additional ingredients inside a extra crunchy pastry. I liked the taste and was very sweet(I like it more sweet). They had probably used sugar for extra sweetness, which as per my wife did not go well with dates taste. We spent lot more time just talking and being in a nice, relaxing place. We also enjoyed the hot lightly flavored tea being served when requested, which is an integral part of Chinese food eating habits.

Read moreBeing the preferred destination for Chinese Cuisine in the CBD area, Memories of China hold a very special place in my heart. So when I got a chance to experience it all over again with Chef Lou who has recently joined the team, I was ecstatic to say the least. I started with their very humble yet delightfully delectable Steamed Prawn Dumpling Har Gou. The Steamed Chung Fan followed with Dry Shrimp and Spring Onion, the myriad flavours of which simply transported me to food heaven. Next up was the Roast Barbequed Pork Belly which was cooked to perfection. I also ordered some Dry Chilli Fish Szechuan style and fell in love with Grouper all over again. The Crispy Darling Chilli Chicken was our final choice amongst appetisers. After visiting the kitchen for a quick video with Chef Lou, we started our Mains and the unforgettable Kung Pao Chicken was my ask as it is my recurring order every time I visit Memories. We also had some Prawns with Golden Garlic, a Chef’s Special to go with the very progressive Fried Rice with Asparagus and Egg White and the combination was just divine. The Steamed Grouper Fillet with Light Soya, Cantonese Style was another side order that really enriched our taste buds. The Desserts are always the most innovative part of Memories and who can forget their signature Deep Fried Sesame Dumpling with Ferrero Rocher? I also had a very generous serving of the Date Pancake served with Ice Cream and the Deep Fried Coconut Ice cream with fresh fruits, the latter being a very pleasant surprise for me. The menu boasts of all the old time favourites and has a few additions in the Chef’s Special section. Chef Luo with his signature style of garnishing has recreated the old time favourites with his personal touch enhancing the flavours and aroma to a new dimension. Drop by to create fresh memories of this unforgettable destination for the ultimate indulgence in...
Read moreDo not go here. Better go to Taj West End or their neighbouring Oberoi property or better still, Leela. They know what’s service. I have been eating at 5 star hotels and their restaurants for several decades, in India and abroad. I have eaten at places that have a Michelin star if two. So I know what good food, setting and service is. Our booking was not recorded Despite telling them it’s our anniversary no gesture, not even a wish, which was weird. Table right next to the washroom where you keep hearing the flush and people are constantly bumping into your chair while going past Horrid tasteless potato dish and Baos which were thick layers of refined flour and very little filling. Staff had no idea about the differences between one wine and another. In a restaurant where a simple bok choy dish costs 900+ taxes, one can expect better service and trained staff We had to ask for water, glasses not refilled. Took them 20 mins to take our first drinks order Overall we feel we wasted 10k that we spent on the meal. Take our advice, go to Mainland...
