Gedong Sisi Ubud — Restaurant in Bali

Never order rendang beef here. They have your Indonesian favorites like nasi goreng but also offer western food like pasta, pizza and Caesar salads. That can give you a hint.

Despite of it's looks it not a traditional restaurant it's a touristy restaurant. We've been twice here and now we can safely say it's overpriced, It doesn't meant that it's expensive (for European pockets) but definitely overpriced in comparison to Indonesian standards.

We had rendang which is supposed to be the star and was a disappointment. It was chewy, rendang beef is supposed to be tender and soft after being slowed cooked for hours or days, this one was definitely not it, it was non strongly sweet coconutty not spicy so we felt we paid for nothing. Great food and cozy atmosphere. Went here as we wanted traditional Balinese food. Their Nasi Goreng dish was one of the best we had during our trip in Bali (and we tried a lot!) so we had to come back to this place again before leaving Ubud. The rice was very flavorful and portions were very good sized. We tried few other dishes here and they were delicious as well. Fresh coconuts are huge and reasonably priced.

The staff was very friendly and attentive. It is a pretty big restaurant with lots of seating from normal tables to cozy low tables where you take off your shoes. I had the pleasure of dining at this amazing restaurant last night, and I can't recommend it enough! The Bali-inspired interior is absolutely stunning, and as a Balinese, I was truly impressed by the ambiance.

Even though we arrived close to closing time, the staff welcomed us with warm smiles and made us feel right at home. We ordered some desserts and smoothies, and they were simply delicious!

All the staff is amazing, but I want to give a special shoutout to Vera, who took such great care of us throughout our visit, her professionalism and cheerful demeanor made our experience even more enjoyable, she is definitely a valuable asset to the team!
