Saigon Delight — Restaurant in Jakarta

We were dining on 18 May 2024. Despite the lovely atmosphere the service and foods need to be improved.

Started with we we seated in a corner sofa and as we settle, the waitress as us to move to another spot because the sofa is being reserved for someone else (which until the place closed was vacant). This still understandable since maybe there is a reservation that did not shows up. But lack of communication is rather annoying.

Notably the table mat is very smelly and was not washed/disinfected properly. Level of service is not comparable to location and the nice decor of the outlet.

As we are rather tired we order drink and ask them to be sent out ASAP (which then took well over 20 mins for 2 pitcher to be sent out to us). Food wise also slow to come, even though the place is not full on Saturday night. When the food finally comes, the squid dish we order is chewy and cold.

The biggest disappointment is Com Tam Beef Steak. Which come last (after being asked how long again repeatedly) and a huge let down. From the menu photo it lookslike they using real beef steak, instead the steak came as metlique and it was well done (we asked for medium). The Com Tam as inedible, the rice is not the broken rice instead is just plain white rice and then the beef meltique was salty and over-cooked. Which ruins the whole flavour of the dish.

I would hope this serve as a customer service warning. We also runs several restaurant in Medan and we prided ourself in customer service and food quality. Jakarta should have better level of customer service and...

I and my wife came here for dinner. But I'll never come back to this restaurant! They got the best service in 2018 from Saigon Delight management? Well, I wonder how the other branches handles their customers?

You should improve your service!

We ordered fried banana as appetiser and meals for two (Pho and Pho Cuon) with pandan ginger + saigon summer for the beverages. The appetiser was quite OK. Then the pho came first after we wait for quite a time, followed by Pho Cuon around 20 mins later (I finished eating my Pho :p). Btw when my Pho came, I waited for 5 mins without any spoon/fork/chopsticks. Then I decided to asked for dining utensils for me to eat yet they didn't give us any napkin so we decided to use our own.

The Saigon summer came after we finished our meals, it was tasteless. It was water with jelly and selasih without any hint of sugarcane water as mentioned in the menu. The pandan ginger? It was never came until we finished our meals and paid it. The waiters never mentioned anything about the cause of the delay. Fortunately we brought our own drink that night.

But what made me really upset was when I met the PIC of the day, both of them were standing while I was sitting and gave my told them about my bad experience. I didn't feel any remorse from them. I hope you can train your staffs regarding customer service so they can handle customer better.

I honestly hate writing this review as I have dined here multiple times and Saigon delight is one of my favourite restaurants ever. However, it all changed after I got food from Saigon last week. Firstly, I ordered their vegan fried rice, and my food came with chicken in it. But they were nice and they dealt with the problem by sending me a new vegan fried rice the next day. However, hours after eating their food (I got the fresh spring rolls), both my boyfriend and I felt super sick. I then had multiple trips to the bathroom (12 times in 5 hours!). We then got really sick, nausea, stomachaches, fever for days. We then went to a doctor and get ourselves tested, turned out we got a type of bacteria infection from the food, and this type of bacteria comes from feces! Which means this is about the cleanliness of their kitchen. It has been a week now, and we still haven’t felt like we are back to normal. I then did my research and turns out, in 2020, Saigon delight (Lippo mall Puri) went viral because multiple people got food poisoning from their food! It is sad that this is actually not the first time this has happened to them.

Please pay more attention to your cleanliness. Sadly after this, I will never eat at...
