I went here after the parade and was in the midst of an anxiety attack from the crowds. I sat in the corner for a few minutes to ground myself and was going to then order a meal and drink. A male server (possibly the owner) came up to me and verbally attacked me for sitting there for 5 minutes without ordering anything and told me I would have to get out. This put me back into the worst anxiety attack and I couldn't barely speak, see clearly or even hear him properly. He continued to berate me until I was in tears. So I sat and ate my meal crying uncontrollably. I almost started choking cause I felt that I had to at as fast as possible to get out of there. Worst experience ever and can't believe this happened in Dublin!
UPDATE
The owners response to the comment is a complete lie!! I had a refillable water bottle with me from the parade and was not drinking from it in the restaurant at all! I didn't realize I was not allowed to have a water bottle on my person and should of put it out of site as to not confuse the staff. I was not even approached by a staff to ask if I wanted a menu or a drink until the owner came over to yell at me.
The restaurant was busy, yes, so I needed a few minutes to just get my bearings as it had been a busy crowded few hours at the parade. I did not get upset until after the owner berated me. I was not acting strange while I waited. And if you have no understanding of anxiety or what an attack is like than you should not tell a person how they should act while they are in the midst of an attack. Telling someone they need counseling after you provoked them incessantly gives light to the fact that you yourself must struggle from some serious mental health issues. If there were people that were uncomfortable or children that were scared, it was most likely because of the way you attacked me and treated...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAvoid the nachos if you have ever had decent nachos. Given the nature of your response I feel that I should expand on my original review. Only being in Dublin for 26 hours and having had a large and excellent lunch I was in the mood for something simple to tide me over until breakfast. My friend and I had only a short time together and I wasn't prepared to spend any of it discussing the deficiencies of the menu with your staff. The staff were pleasant enough but it was already irritating that they kept asking us about the food, almost as if they felt guilty. It clearly wasn't their fault that the nachos were not as described in the menu or as photographed in an earlier review. There was no cheese on them, simply some vaguely cheese coloured slime that appeared to have come out of a squeezy bottle filled from a 15 litre tub. I usually take these experiences on the chin but as we left my friend and I mused over the mismatch between the reviews and our experience. Our conclusion was that either a high proportion of the reviews were not genuine or that your customers have low standards. Given that most Dubliners seems to be pretty discerning, we concluded that the reviews might not be totally objective and I resolved help others not to fall into the same trap. I bear you no malice and commend you on the quality of your beer and your staff but you need to up your game on the Nacho front if you want anyone to order them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisiting in the off season (Feb) Got into town late and ended up here by virtue of it being within walking distance of our place. Walked in hoping for food which wasnāt available that night. Johnny told us to go next door for food but to come back for āā¦the best pint of Guiness in Dublinā. Had a pint with dinner next door at Kavanaugh which was better than Iād ever had in the states. Afterwards we went back to Bleeker. My kids were there a bit ahead of us and Johnny was delighting them with local knowledge, Irish music history, jokes and stories. My son pointed at me and said āThatās him, my Dad.ā Johnny looked me straight in the eye and said āPogue Mahoneā Loved it. Spent the rest of the night in there. Johnny has the pics to prove all the celebs that have come to call. Text his friend in Ballycotton to tell him to expect us on the second leg of our trip. Recommended another amazing pub there we just got back from. Stop in and ask him to run the jukebox and chat. You wonāt regret it. Also, legit the best pint we...
