Five out of five naan breads – this place is a spicy sensation!
While staying in Dublin, our quest for a great meal led us to Spice and Rice Express, conveniently near our hotel, the Maldron. And wow, did we strike gold! This cozy Indian restaurant is an absolute delight, offering a vibrant escape from the typical tourist fare.
Let’s dive into the food: every dish was a flavor explosion that left us planning our next visit before we'd even finished. The portions were generous, the spices on point, and each bite was a celebration of authentic Indian cuisine. It's clear that the chefs here know their craft. Despite specializing in Indian food, they also offer other items like gyros, catering to various tastes.
The service was just as impressive. The staff greeted us with smiles that felt like a warm welcome into their culinary home. Their friendliness and efficiency turned a quick meal into a memorable dining experience.
When we visited, a large hurling game had just finished, and the place was buzzing with locals stopping by for a bite on their way home. Clearly, this spot is a local favorite, and it’s easy to see why.
Although the restaurant focuses on take-away, they offer a comfortable dining area with 6-8 tables, perfect for those who prefer to enjoy their meals on-site. However, one thing to note: they don't serve alcohol. For those who enjoy a glass of wine or beer with their curry, this might be a slight drawback. Obtaining a license could help them cater to a wider range of customers and make the dining experience even better.
In a nutshell, Spice and Rice Express is a must-visit for anyone craving fantastic Indian food in Dublin. Great food, superb service, and a charming atmosphere – what more could...
Read moreThis place be stealing business from the original Spice n Rice , just a few blocks away!!! Gross! I placed an order via phone at the original location, but google Maps brought me to this one for some reason (16 Dorset st vs. 34 Dorset🙄). I arrived to collect (not knowing there are now 2 spice n rices , wondering if there'd been a renovation-had been away from Dublin a while) & was visibly distressed when they said they didnt know what order i was talking about. Instead of confessing their sneaky scheme of stealing spice n rice customers when they could see i was v distressed on the verge of tears after a terrible evening....they said oh we'll make it for you now don't worry! So i had to sit and wait another 10 min when in a rush... Later that evening the Original Spice n Rice called me to ask if i was coming to get my order. I cried then feeling awful about having wasted their time,& their food, and having these dishonest ppl lie to my face when i was on the verge of tears already . What a horrible business model , to copy the exact name & location of a business on the same street& knowingly steal their customers in this exact way, vERy deliberately... i can't believe it's allowed. The food was decent but i don't care, this is no way to treat ppl & run a business ~it's incredibly deplorable. They tricked a friend of mine the...
