In summary, the worst service I've ever experienced in a locale that borders on being a fraudulent practice. Honestly, I never even stuck around to order anything more than a macchiato, surprisingly served in the right sized cups and resembling what you may find in your Italian bars but wholly average in terms of quality and carrying the stupid Dublin inflation I've become so fond of. Walking out isn't something I often do, in fact, if memory isn't failing me at the time of this review, I have never exited an establishment resolved to never return without at least suffering some foul-tasting tort. In this case, the service received at Caffè Amore was so extraordinarily abhorrent that no faux foodie's five star opinion could inspire me to temper my disbelief and stay to order any one of the dishes off of the proposed menu. Beyond it being typically unauthentic, moronically simplified and carbohydrate-centric (a red flag that any true connoisseur knows means that the chefs hidden within must be of a very mediocre calibre) we were also informed by the waitress, with utterly horrifying rudeness, that 1 pm is no time for the menu Pranzo ("Lunch" in Italian, I more than stand behind my belief that it is indeed lunching time, as it actually is in most countries in the world, including Italy) so with genuine physical force turning our laminated sheets of paper to display the menu Cena ("Dinner" in Italian). I have never had a waiter forcefully remove a menu from under my nose and smacking a new one instead of it. No less when it is force an order from a Dinner menu costing an average of 5 euros more, per dish, at 1 pm. These we were told, directions from management. I courteously inquired as to the logic behind this treatment but, as already described, there was no reasonable argument offered by management. As an Italian it genuinely horrified me that such a highly reviewed, possibly esteemed, locale could dare behave itself in such suspectly illicit ways and so, as my company observed, propagate self-evident prejudicial descriptions of Italian expatriates and their business customs. I wholeheartedly recommend against contributing to this godforsaken corner of pretenders and thieves. Dublin has a wonderfully flamboyant Italian cuisine scene. Caffe Amore deserves to be...
Read moreAwful experience.
They had a board outside advertising pizza and beer €19, not bad right? What they don’t tell you is that it’s just the margharita (usually €13) & a small bottle of beer which are advertised as €6.50. A whopping saving of €0.50.
Regardless of this, we still ordered 2 pizzas, one vegan & a margharita. The vegan pizza arrived however had only a small amount of cheese & was undercooked, my partner was half way through her pizza & mine still hadn’t arrived. The waiter noticed and proceeded to start arguing with the kitchen staff about whether the order machine was broken and why it hadn’t sent through my order (rather than just making a pizza). I heard all of this discussion and decided to cancel the pizza, given we were running late already & it had taken 40 minutes for 1 pizza to arrive.
The male waiter offered no apology for the error, delay and poor service. The waiter checked every other table around us but once I had cancelled the pizza they proceeded to ignore us. When getting up to pay, the waiter was distracted for 5 minutes talking to another table about his Egyptian heritage? Talk about rough service, o told the waiter it was poor service & food and left. So many better eateries around Dublin, don’t waste time with...
Read moreWorst service ever. The waiter was the rudest you could ever imagined. My friend and I went there for an aperitivo and as soon as we opened the door he mentioned that he heard us talking about the upstairs seating and the fist thing that he said to us was literally "absolutely you cannot seat upstairs!" Well then... We set and he gave us the menus "don't look on that side, we don't have anything that's there. Also no teas or other bevarages, only coffee". The bad part Is not only was he was saying but the tone...so rude!
I asked in italian (as he was clearly italian just like me) if he could give us the dessert menus and he didn't even cme close to me to reply. Only staied 4 meteres away were he was chilling on the counter and said "well we don't have anything, only cannolo"
We asked for tue bill, he literally waled past us chewing a piece of bread and did not acknowledged my request and few minutes later another waiter came over with the bill.
Nobody asked how was everything and He even snorted when noticed we didn't leave a tip.
Will not go back, will not suggest to anybody to go there. 2 stars only because the food was actually okay, it would be -1 if it was only for...
