Lovely place to stay. Great pub below but closed Sun & Mon as this is a business district (noise from pub not an issue on wknd), beautiful old pub, great food & service. Room was lovely & comfortable (see additional info below), we easily walked to all public transportation which was based around Trinity College. This town is very walkable. Street side can get noisy up in the room but didn't really bother us. All rooms are obove the pub and no lift/elevator, only stairs. The stairs only had one railing and that was on the right side (going up) making it a bit harder for ladies to carry luggage up if you're right handed. They have a small kitchen to make tea or coffee any time of the day or night. A small fridge was a great plus for leftovers and the milk was provided for the hot beverages. They do not provide breakfast even though the website says differently. But that's ok, as we found a great Bakery offering a wonderful breakfast & delicious baked goods down by Trinity College called Keoghs. All in this was a very good choice and considering prices elsewhere in the city of Dublin, the price was great. We would stay here again for sure. We did have a few issues with the shower door jumping off the track, dim lighting in the bathroom, spotty wifi, and 2 heavy closing doors with in the room; but they were working on all issues. Thank you to the...
Read moreI don't know how useful or valid my rating might be. Perhaps a description of my experience more helpful:
We visited from Cape Town, South Africa and used room 1 for one night. We didn't expect it to be so loud. Noise from the busy road outside, the creaking floorboards and banging doors made relaxation difficult. Also loads of construction across the road and down the street which didn't help. I don't know if that affected the room prices. Great location for visiting the rest of Dublin City Central. The bed was comfortable enough. And the room and bathroom were very clean. No bathroom basin plug. Some maintenance required - the toilet seat wasn't 100% secured and the hot water tap was loose. Plumbing makes a noise after flushing. The bedroom curtains allowed light through underneath. The bathroom could use more hooks (?) For us to hang our things on. For the same price locally we would get more - but this is Dublin City, so perhaps it's a good deal. We didn't have time to properly visit the pub downstairs. It looked great and felt very cosy. The kitchen outside of our room was well equipped with fridge, tea and coffee etc. It was very helpful that we could store our luggage there after the 11am checkout so that we could explore more of the city before having...
Read moreRooms are nice. Management was pretty awful. We emailed him about a month before our stay telling him when we would arrive, but when we showed up the whole building was locked up and the owner was no where to be found. We rang the doorbell several times, but no one answered. The people at the yellow coffee house offered to let us use their phone and try and call him and see where he was. No answer. So the coffee shop let us keep our bags in their shop till he showed up. Otherwise we would have been sitting on our luggage for hours waiting for someone from O’neills to show up. A few hours later we came back and tried everything over again, ringing the door bell, knocking on all the doors, and then finally called again. He answered. When we finally got inside we were made to carry all our bags up several flights of stairs, then we asked why he wasn’t there at the time we told him in the email. And he told us we emailed him on a holiday........ idk what that means? I guess he can’t check emails if they are a day old. He then told us how we would be charged no matter if we stayed there or not. Very poor style of managing a hotel. It’s a great place to stay if you want to sit around and waste half your day looking for someone to get your room. Terrible way for us to spend the first few...
