ALICE!
ALICE OUR WAITRESS AND HER COLLEAGUES AND THE HEAD CHEF AND HIS STAFF - IN ONE MEAL IN ONE 5 STAR SITTING ALICE AND THE STAFF AT THE CEDAR TREE PROVED THAT THEY ARE THE BEST. THE RESTAURANT WAS BUSY WITH INDIVIDUALS AND COUPLES DINING FROM THE MOMENT THE PLACE OPENED, PROVING ONCE AGAIN THAT THE CEDAR TREE CRAFTS THE BEST LEBANESE FOOD IN THE CEDAR CITY - DUBLIN.
PERFECT - IN A BITE.
I HAD THE LUNCH MENU. 28 EURO FOR A STARTS, MAIN AND A LEBANESE COFFEE OR TEA. BEING HUNGRY ON THE DAY I INVESTED ANOTHER 2 EURO IN THE TOP OF THE RANGE FISH DISH, 6 EURO FOR A GLASS OF WINE TO APPRECIATE MY FISH WITH AND ADDED ANOTHER 6 EURO TO COMPLETE THE DINING EXPERIENCE WITH A DESSERT THAT MELTED ON THE PLATE AND ON MY TONGUE AND IN MY BELLY.
Total cost 42 euro for a FEAST FIT FOR A KING and I left a 10 percent service charge for Alice and The Cedar Tree crew.
There is only one place left in the world to go. There is only one spiced lamb kofta in the world to eat. There is only one steamed Seabass to dissect with pleasure at the ends of your fork prongs and knife tips. There is only here, only now. Only The Lebanon left to dine upon, only The Cedar Tree left to sea then spraoi - that's the old Irish word for play and when we sparoi then we'll see who's serious about this restaurant business...
And 1,528 reviews later, now 1,529, it can safely be said, that The Shah Of Iran could dine here and walk away feeling like he has exited a dessert mirage fueled by The Lebanese Passion 4 Food.
P.s. I've been eating the lunch menu here for 7+ years and bringing my father for around the same length of time and here's the best bit of all the meal.
The food and service and everything about the restaurant The Cedar Tree has actually GOTTEN MORE PERFECT, WHILE THE INTERNAL LEBANESE STYLE ARCHITECTURE NEVER CHANGED. TRULY THE GHOST OF THE LORD INHABITS THESE HALLS, BLESSING ALL THOSE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO PASS THROUGH THESE OAK DOORS.
Pro tip: I have a special love for The Lebanese Coffee, served in the traditional style, black, and warm with spices.
Open at very comfortable hours, The Cedar Tree is the place to go when you need a place to go, in Dublin city.
Lastly, I know it's a bit random, but that was the tastiest rice I ever ate, served with my fish.
Thank you again to all the staff, and Alice, and of course, The Lebanon, for inspiring the breath of life, and gifting us with your bountiful fruit and...
Read moreSmall restaurant offering a variety of Lebanese dishes, including a variety of mezze - both vegetarian and meaty.
Restaurant is lovely decorated, very cosy and I saw on their website that they have belly dance shows. It has been super busy, which I think speaks for popularity though it of course comes with some noise.
Food was delicious, very tasty - we had the Fetteh Hummus which is chickpeas with joghurt, crispy Lebanese bread and walnuts; a combination I would never have thought of but works extremely well. As main we have been ordering different grilled chicken dishes, salad, potatoes, grilled garlic & chili bread as well as Lebanese rice. The rice came with minced Lamb, Walnuts, Chickpeas and parsley - never had this before and I am surely going to order it again. Baklava was nice, but tasted very different to Turkish one, so really depends on what you personally prefer.
Our friend was breaking her fast in the restaurant, and though we only had a table at 20.00 they brought all the food for 20.15, which was amazing as my friend was starving.
Had a lovely evening, staff is very friendly, though there are two things that don't allow me to give 5 stars - a.) They were running out of Ayran and various teas and b) (soft) drinks came only after we had already started our main course. I am just used to get my drinks prior eating. Minor points, hence I will come back, eat there again and potentially upgrade...
Read moreFirst point we visited the place on Saturday and we were expecting the bellydance show but there was nothing, the service in our opinion is poor, the waiter (older guy) didn’t really care about us and was only friendly with Irish people (maybe working on a generous tip) the service was rushed and you could feel he couldn’t care less about us! We know what Middle Eastern food taste like and this place is really average for what they are charging you! First of all the lemon/mint juice is definitely mixed with water, you could barely feel the tangy taste of lemon, very watery and tasteless, I mean drinkable but I believe I could make better at home! We ordered the mixed meat plate, literally 3 pieces of meat on top of 2 tiny slices of bread: 30 euros! Take a look at the picture. The kibbeh labanieh was ok, but again not the flavour I was expecting from an high end restaurant! Overall the food was below average charged waaay too much! Lastly the place looks messy, all stuff stacked up behind the counter, tables in my opinion are not organised well and lighting should be reviewed as well. We had high hopes but unfortunately...
