We made the mistake of stopping here for a pre-dinner drink. The waiter was one of the rudest I have ever come across. It took about 15 minutes to be served and then only because I waved him over, he having ignored us up to that point. He then spat out something which we asked him to repeat, which turned out to be “cash or card”. A local sitting near us commented that apparently he’s always like this and the only reason people go there is because of its location in the square. TOURISTS BEWARE. Check your receipt before paying! We ordered (after waiting a good 10 min for acknowledgement) 2 vini rossi (5 euros each noted on menu) and when we got our receipt it was 14 euros, when questioned, the waiter shrugged and said “chips, nuts…” as if to say that the free snacks that come with your wine will cost you an additional 4 euros. Here in Cortona I found the Bar Caffe Sicnorelli. Upon returning from walking the ancient Roman road, I stopped in Bar Caffe Sicnorelli. The food is wonderful, my pastry was still hot and the cappuccino delightful. This is a local hangout.
