Casella 18 — Restaurant in Florence

Avoid! Shockingly rude experience. We had a booking for 8 pm, arrived on time and were told to wait for 2 min while our table was being prepared. After 10 min we inquired and were told to wait 1 minute…. Finally after 25 min we were sat at the table and the host asked us if there was any problem. So when we said we weren’t happy with the delay she literally took the menus away from our hands and told us to go somewhere else….!!! We were and still are completely dumbfounded and shocked by the whole experience.

Note: NOT even once did any of the staff apologise about the delay (in fact they were acting like they were begrudgingly doing us a favour for preparing our table…). How difficult is it to just say “sorry to keep you waiting…?” Of course we left since we were not welcome there… and luckily found a neighbouring restaurant with amazing service and food (even without reservation and no...

We were drawn by the handwritten menu and felt refreshed to not meet the same old choices found everywhere else. Hello taste buds! The ravioli di pere with gorgonzola and pistachio gave my tongue a tour of sweet, savory, and delicate deliciousness. The ossobucco was amazing - tender, full of flavor, and a generous portion size. We debated having another dish after the incredible flavors of the first two, the debate was quickly settled and we decided to go for the tagalini truffle special. The truffles were sliced perfectly and the pasta was infused with that most glorious flavor🥰🥰😛😛. Our waitresses were absolutely wonderful and attentive. We felt welcome at Casella 18 and can't wait to visit again! Best meal we've had in all of Italy. I wish I could eat the ravioli...

Very rude. We came without reservation, and they told us that it is fine and gave us a table. They were pleasant at the beginning but soon started to push us out. They asked us to bring us a bill before bringing our food, and were generally starting to be very unpleasant. It escalated at the end when they put on our bill some things that we did not consume and then got very upset when we asked to review and remove those things. Finally they told us that they do not want to see us again, and told us that we should have not come without a reservation. Some of the food was good and some not so good (pizza).
