It wasn't a nice surprise. I used to visit this restaurant when I was living in Florence and I really liked it. Came back to Florence and chose Coquinarius to catch up with a friend. I will start saying that if it wasn't for the guy who I believe is the owner or manager this experience was going to be the worst experience I have ever had. We went there for dinner, once we got at the door we waited patiently as we didn't booked a table, after minutes a waitress welcomed us and asked us to wait 2 minutes so she can set the table but we ended up waiting for maybe 10 minutes. Hopefully a waiter (manager or owner) that it was at the bar came to the entrance and invited us to come in and showed us our table. Everything was ok, always smiling the waiter gave us the menu and brought us some water since my friend can't drink wine. He took the order (we asked to have the pasta after our entreés as it is done almost everywhere) The waitress brought us the food with an almost disgusted face. Everything was ok until she brought us the pasta while we were still eating our entreés. Again she left without saying a word. The thing I noticed is that the waitress was very kind and attentive with the rest of the other customers, so I started to get annoyed because I had to eat fast otherwise our pasta was going to get cold. I asked one more bottle of water but she never came back with our bottle of water even though she was passing beside our table very often. At that point I had enough and I wanted leave as soon as possible. Is very sad to see this kind of stuff at Coquinarius because I had a different experience every time I went there with my husband when we used to live in Florence. Thank you so much to waiter or manager who I believe noticed what was happening and asked me twice if everything was OK. I didn't want to say anything because there were other customers at the counter but here is my review. I hope you guys train better your staff to avoid this kind of problems, because we felt like we have been discriminated.

Coquinarius is an absolute gem of a restaurant I stumbled upon during my recent visit to Florence. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by its cozy and inviting ambiance. The warm lighting, good decor, and comfortable seating created the perfect atmosphere for a memorable dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food. Coquinarius truly exceeded my expectations with their exceptional stuffed pigeon. The dish was a harmonious blend of flavors, with the tender and succulent meat perfectly complemented by the rich stuffing. Each bite was a delightful explosion of taste, leaving me craving for more. But the surprises didn't end there. The rabbit dish at Coquinarius was a true masterpiece. The meat was wonderfully cooked, tender, and juicy, with a beautiful balance of flavors. The accompanying sauce added a delightful tanginess that elevated the dish to a new level. It was a true culinary delight that left me in awe. The service at Coquinarius was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. They went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect, from recommending the best wine pairings to providing insightful descriptions of each dish. Overall, Coquinarius is a must-visit restaurant in Florence. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, Coquinarius will not disappoint.

We were in town in April 2022 and looking for something for lunch within walking distance of Piazza del Duomo and Galleria dell'Accademia and found this gem. At first we were worried it might be too pricy or fancy because of the dim lighting, but once your eyes get adjusted it is a comfortable space. We had four teenagers with us who were not adventurous eaters but open to trying local specialties and we were not disappointed. The only tiny issue one of them had was having to send back a steak that was ordered medium and came out a bit rare than they were used to. The menu posted outside is in Italian language only but the inside menus include English language translations. Some of the dishes we enjoyed were burrata ravioli with pesto, rabbit ragu with tagliatelle pasta, and raviolino with pear and Parmesan. Our waitress was helpful explaining the dishes when we were ordering. We shared a crumble and flourless chocolate cake and the bill came out just under 25€ per head. If you are looking to try something a little bit different from the standard fare you get back home, then this is a fine option. Would recommend to foodies who aren’t concerned with Michelin stars (or prices) and travelers looking for a balance of adventure and value in their dining journey.

I have never experienced service as terrible as this in the entire continent of Europe.

We made a booking at 9pm on 29 August 2024.

We arrived at 8:50pm with anothing couple in the queue in front of us.

The two groups waited until 9:00pm without anyone coming to greet us. I initially guessed the couple at the front has already been told that they need to wait, then I heard them saying "it's been so long". So I asked them if the waiters said it's going to be a long wait, to my surprise, they told me "NO ONE HAS EVEN COME OUT TO GREET THEM YET".

We opted to wait longer, thinking they might just be very busy, we saw the waitresses service the tables near the front many many times, they clearly saw us standing there, they completely ignored us, did not come to apologies and say the wait will be longer, did not even so much as gesture to SHOW THEY KNOW WE WERE STANDING THERE.

By 9:10pm, both groups are irate, I went in to ask the lady at the bar if they are aware that 4 guests have been standing at the front door for a long time, she looked extremely dismissive and said: "si si we are busy", then refused to even look at me. How absolutely rude for a restaurant pretending to be high class!

I came back and told the couple at the front that we are going to leave, just as a group of 5 guests left their table to leave, as they walked past us and told us: "Don't bother, we have been waiting 30 minutes without food or service, don't bother with this restaurant".

Upon hearing that, we left immediately.

Absolutely the most atrocious experience we've had in Italy. You absolutely do not deserve even 1 star.

It's ok to be busy or understaffed, you can even tell your guests you cannot service due to high demand, but you DO NOT just ignore guests that's been waiting for so long at the front and be so rude...
