While we were in Florence, we were looking for leather goods that was unique, and local. Just as we were about to give up, we stumbled across this little gem of a store when the owner was working on his bags with his tools. When we entered the store, he let us look around without pressure, and helped us grab anything we wanted to look at from the shelves, while continuing to work away, with his cute dog wondering around, and his kitty hanging out on the table.
He was such a genuine person, and his craftsmanship was beautiful. I ended up going back a second evening, right before we left the city just to pick up extra bags.
When my husband asked him if there's a thicker strap for his briefcase, he immediately made the strap in front of us! It was such a interesting experience to watch him work on the leather right there and then.
The people/animals, and the quality in this little shop were what made this so unique to us. We love the bags we got, and we truly loved the experience.
We have been telling friends about it, and already hoping to have a chance to re visit this cute shop again in the...
Read moreMarco Romiti is the best! On our first tour of Florence our tour guide told us to watch out for leather stores that sell foreign products. She walked us by Marco’s shop and noted this is an authentic Florence leather store. We didn’t go into the store then nor did the guide have any type of relationship with Marco (like no kickbacks or anything that always makes my suspect of recommendations).
My wife and I went back to shop probably three or four times and we made multiple purchases of hand bags, leather pouches, and I got a couple of very nice belts. One purse my wife liked but she wanted to take the zipper out. No problem. Marco took care if that and we picked it up the next day. It looked like the purse was made that way originally.
This is a must stop. And if you don’t see exactly what you want, ask Marco. He may have it in the store where you can’t see it hidden in the back or in one of his cabinets (tons of men’s wallets in a drawer).
Five stars all the way. And don’t forget to say...
Read moreMarco Romiti is incredible. I went in not expecting a variety of products, but he had drawers of colors and styles and picked the exact item I was thinking of giving as a gift. I was lucky enough to enter his shop as he was working on repairing one of his products from many years ago. I got to listen to him talk about how much he loves his work, how he got started in leather working, and the history of his family in Florence.
In a town where it seems like every shop that has leather goods is either reselling them from a mass producer, or is selling over-priced, cheap-made products, Marco very obviously loves what he does.
His prices are more than fair, his work is beautiful, and I can recommend him to anyone looking for handmade leather accessories...
