This was the worst experience ever!!! If I could give them NO stars then I would. It was very clear that they didn't care for a person of diversity not just that I was American. The waitress i couldn't see her name but immediately seated us in the back next to the toilet. We had a hand full of bags from shopping so we politely asked if we could get a table that seated four so we'd have a place for our bags and it wasn't next to the toilet. She rudely replied NO! You have three this is for 3 and walked off. She walked up to another group of people that entered (Caucasian) and offered to seat them in the front but they declined because they wanted a larger table. So she seated three adults and a baby at a table that seated five people. After, we noticed that blunt visual disrespect to us we decided to leave. We let her know kindly that we were leaving and we were told we couldn't because my son had used their restroom. With the way we were being treated I wasn't eating there at all! I made my son come out of there restroom immediately! It was a horrible experience to try and explain to a child why we had to leave so abruptly. I have know idea why the world is so disgusting with prejudices all we wanted was a magical experience in Italy and it's people and places like this that make it hard to have that dream come true.
Luckily we found an amazing restaurant down the way called " Ristorante Giglio Rosso" located at Via Panzani 35/R Firenze. They were amazing, wonderfully kind service and great food. Try them instead because...
Read moreI recently visited Giotto Pizzeria in Florence and was quite disappointed with my experience. Although Google Maps indicated that they closed at 23.00 pm, when we arrived at 10:15 pm, a young Tamil man (I believe) informed us that they were already closed. A few minutes later, a female staff member came and said they would close in 10 minutes and that we could order if we wanted to eat within five minutes. This was Not true because fifteen minutes later, two more girls arrived and sat down. The young Tamil man began to wander around the restaurant, humming tunelessly and making strange, almost dance-like gestures with his fingers. It was quite distracting and frankly, a bit unnerving.
The pizzas were nothing special. The mushrooms on one of them were quite slimy, and overall, I felt that we paid too much for what we got. The glass of wine we ordered was disappointingly small.
The pizzeria was quite busy, and the kitchen was directly opposite us, where they were mopping the floor. The strong smell of the cleaning product was unpleasant and detracted from our dining experience.
Based on this experience, I would not recommend Giotto...
Read moreFood is meh. Service is terrible.
Went into the restaurant and it was quite empty at the time, all staffs were chatting. The waitress led us to the seat almost only touched the chairs but didn’t pulled it out.
The menu came after quite a few after we all settled. When we were ready to order we even turned our body to try to have eye contacts with the staffs as all of them were chatting as a group behind us. No one came to us till my friend waved her hand. The waiter came to us used the inter-phone to let the staff responsible for ordering to come but still no one came - we saw a waitress had reaction after the waiter talked to his inter-phone but she was chatting and laughing with her colleagues at all - she came after around a minute later😅
They only have five or six cocktails on the cocktail list, we ordered two and they told us they don’t have both😅
We ordered the only two pizzas with michelin stars but literally just tasted meh, id only describe them as “not bad”- and ofc none of them reached the level of michelin foods i ever had before.
Although the atmosphere was decent, defo not recommending this...
