Santa croce bistrot — Restaurant in Florence

An unforgetable example of Italian hospitality! We found this bistro by chance on a rainy day. It is a small modern place, hidden from the noisy crowds near the Basilica of Santa Croce. We were served by Davide, who was very friendly. I really appreciate that the restaurant was opened to adjust the menu according to our requests, depending on fresh ingredients that they currently had. We had delicious ravioli with gorgonzola and spaghetti carbonara with crispy bacon - they were exceptional, I've never eaten anything like that. We wanted an early dinner in our neighborhood (Santa Croce) and found this around the corner from the basilica. What appealed were the straightforward, not overly complex menu and the chance to eat outside. We ordered the mixed crostini as an appetizer and found the liver crostini to be outstanding. Of our two pastas, the pomodoro Vesuviello was special as was the vegetarian carbonara (zucchini replaces bacon). To top it off the new twist on millefoglie was absolutely incredible.

Had a really good experience here a few weeks ago. We were welcomed in with a smile on a Sunday morning and the guy serving us ran through the whole menu, his recommendation being the Beatrice. My mother ordered this and it came out looking really good, needless to say there wasn't a crumb left behind!
