I hate to leave a negative review and truly don’t ever do so and am not a picky person with food- but this restaurant really really disappointed me. It started off on a bad foot when I realized the bread given to us after ordering was stale (not to mention that I saw them take it out of the freezer). Our bruschetta was unsurprisingly so bad given that it was on stale bread & the tomatoes were flavorless. Then our entrees came out, and we didn’t even realize it was what we ordered because it was unrecognizable- I got pesto pasta but it came in a red sauce that in their words had some pesto in it, which my husband and I didn’t taste whatsoever. And my husband got barely luke warm (cold in middle) ravioli with what looked like hamburger helper in almost like a thanksgiving gravy-sort-of looking sauce on top of it. We sat next to the kitchen and saw every dish they brought out and every dish seemed to be doused in that same sauce that was so so bad. We also got a salmon that was served in a bowl just totally filled with oil and the salmon had 0 flavor and there were a small handful of peas I guess as the side for the fish just soaking in that bowl of oil. With all the potential for good food in Italy, this was so shockingly bad. I had to stop for food on the way home because I couldn’t even eat what was served. Again, I hate to leave a bad review, but I felt like I wish that I had seen a review like this before our dinner to more accurately reflect the...
Read moreThe food was of good quality. It's traditional Tuscan cuisine, so expect a good bistecca and reliable pasta dishes.
It's s a family-run business as they are all involved either in the kitchen or serving tables. Kind of wholesome also because of the old-fashioned environment. Sadly, I can't give more than 1 star to the service. We waited for more than 1 hour for our food, when it was coming out, the waiter did not know who to serve so we had to tell him that that food was for us. When we received the gamberone pasta, our prawn ended up on the floor. The waitress quickly got us another one, not a problem but still, it was a lack of care we did not expect. Later, we were eating our last roasted potatoes when the waiter came and carelessly took the dishes without even asking if we were done. Again, we understood the rush as the place was pretty hectic but we immediately asked for the bill as this left us pretty annoyed.
It's probably better on weekdays, but I wouldn't recommend going there...
Read moreWOW! What a gem of a restaurant. We have traveled throughout Tuscany this week as well as Venice. We even had 2 home cooked meals for our group. But without question this was the best we have had. Run by the dad, mom, and son, we felt at home as soon as we walked in. The house wine was delicious, the bruschetta was soaked in herbed olive oil and the tomatoes were fresh and flavorful. Then came the main course. My wife had the chicken breast which was very tender and full of flavor. I had the pasta with fresh tomatoes in a pesto sauce. I savored every bite, it was so delicious. But the best was yet to come, the tiramisu! That is my wife's favorite desert and she said it was the best she ever had. I know it sounds like I am exaggerating, but everything was really that good. The whole meal was less than $65 euro. When in Florence, you have to go to Trattoria Roberto if you want authentic Tuscan...
