The sandwiches here are quite good, and gluten free. My low rating is due to an incident where we tried to do take-away. We had already dined in twice and liked the food, so decided to take some back to the apt one day. When my friend went in to order, he asked for a menu bc he had trouble with the pronunciation of two of the sandwiches. They said no menu, but my friend noticed the paper placemat had the menu, so he picked one up and tried to order. The guy at the register grabbed it out of his hands, crumpled it up and told him he had to look at the menu outside. So my friend goes outside. Still has the same pronunciation problem. Calls out to the guy to place his order, and is told he has to come inside. Then they are upset with him that he can't pronounce the name when all he wanted to do was point to it on the menu. The whole thing was absurd. We had already given them our business several times and they were treating my friend very poorly. We never went back, which is too bad bc the food was a good...
Read moreWe came here several times for lunch (dine in and take away) during a week long stay in Florence. Perfect for people who need to eat gluten free, because the entire restaurant is gluten free. Delicious sandwiches that don’t just crumble in your hands, and the portions are HUGE. Get yourself the salami sandwich with honey and roasted peppers, and the fried dough with black truffles, at least once. They are so tasty.
The service was quick and friendly, and they speak good English.
One piece of advice I’d share — if you don’t like fatty, floppy, chewy bacon, stay away from the Bomba sandwhich. This is entirely personal preference of course, but this sandwhich was the single worst thing I ate after three weeks in Italy :-/. The bacon comes out, no exaggeration, with around 95% pure white fat that has barely been kissed by a flame. Not a great experience if you’re expecting “regular” North American bacon. But every other sandwhich I had was good! Just be forewarned about what “bacon” means...
Read moreOBSESSED IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Service. Quality. Taste. Take away. Dine in. All 100!! Best ever!!! This is the best gluten free restaurant/take away I have ever experienced. I am the only person who has Celiac in my travel group of 7 other people and they have loved the gluten free options. There was even a very popular sandwich spot right down the road (from the take away and 1 restaurant) and my group opted for the GF Sgrano because they loved it so much. And not only that, but we also found their second restaurant location and my group said “We must go here!” and we had the greatest experience. On top of that, the prices are SO affordable and the guy at the takeaway window was very nice, extremely helpful and he makes everything personally every single day. Best quality and it blew my taste buds out of the water. I never want to leave…because of this place. If you’re GF, or heck, even if you’re not, GO!! It’s worth any wait and you WILL NOT...
