We visited this newly opened, family-run restaurant in August - a time when most Italians have fled Naples for the cooler (and less busy) islands and countryside around Napoli, so of course it was mostly tourists and few Italians.
We shared a ragu pizza, the grilled vegetable (courgette), a glass of white wine each and, for dessert, both a tiramisu and fried doughballs with sugar/Nutella.
We've eaten at many Pizzeria while in Naples and this is still the best - hot, fresh, slightly charred dough, rich sweet tomato and stretchy cheese. Proper Napolitano pizza.
The tiramisu was light yet boozy with chocolate chips, so not fully authentic but still fun and delicious. We couldn't finish the generous portion of doughballs so asked for a box to take them home in. (Great decision - they lasted another two days!)
The service was friendly, warm and welcoming, however we were unsure how to pay at the end. My only constructive feedback would be that, if people should pay at the counter by the door, perhaps inform guests of this when they sit down for their meal. If we're mistaken, then perhaps more check-ins from.fhe waiter to give guests a chance to say that you're ready to pay at your table.
Otherwise, we had a lovely time and plan to return before we...
Read moreI’m trying to remember a worse dining experience than this but couldn’t think of anything. Came in for dinner. We were seated straight away but no one gave us a menu within the next 5 minutes. The restaurant wasn’t busy and most of the diners had already been served or had food on their table. So we ordered our food, 3 plates - an antipasto for sharing and a main each for me and my husband. Three other groups came in as we were waiting. After ten minutes, the waiter came back to ask for our order again as if he somehow misplaced it. Waited 40+ minutes for an overcooked seafood dish. The three other groups that came after us - a single diner, a group of 3 and a group of 4 were served before us. No one checked in on us all the while the owner had been going to other tables hyping up her...
Read moreWe could share a few thoughts about our experience, but one thing stood out the most. When we were seated, we waited about five minutes without receiving a menu. Eventually, we had to grab menus ourselves. During that time, the waiter passed by us several times, sometimes seemingly without purpose. We began to wonder if it was normal here to get menu on your own.
Then, two other tables were seated, and the staff’s attention was on them immediately—they received menus and prompt service. This made us feel really bad, almost like we were a different kind of customer.
One of our dishes was also mistaken (we received a different dish), but by that point, we simply let it go.
We thought it would be helpful to share this so you are aware how the experience was...
