Sure are a few reviews here from people who haven't fully understood what's on offer. We had high expectations already based on the more coherent reviews but they were exceeded by a long shot. In addition to the great service and super friendly staff - love their colourful uniforms by the way - the pizza is out of this world. Fresh tomatoes are better than tomato sauce, fight me. In all seriousness, instead of comparing this to other styles of pizza, enjoy it for what it is - Sicilian style and very well executed at that. Best pizza we've tried hands down, and it's not our first or second time in Palermo. Dessert was delicious too, the tiramisu has CHOCOLATE CHIPS, a first for me and should honestly be a standard. All in all a fabulous meal and we'll be back ASAP to try the cous cous.

Truly remarkable. Wonderful, traditional starters and pizza (I won't forget the tasty food and wine!!), with attention to details that make all the difference and turns the meal into a unique experience, without ever feeling pretentious. The location (a narrow steet full of rainbow lights just off the main shopping & eating street 5m away from the Cathedral), the outmost quality of the ingredients, the building, the decoration of the space, the cleanliness, even the background music - all of it accomplishing the rare balance between simplicity and extreme good taste. A last word about the service: kindness and in-depth knowledge, all mixed to make you feel truly welcome, safe and appreciated. If you are in Palermo for the day or the week, this is the place you cannot miss.

The perfect place. Food quality. Service. Prices. Atmosphere. We were going to another place, but couldn't pass by. We love pizza very much and try it at every opportunity in different establishments. This pizza is top notch. cooked in the oven. Crispy and thin dough. The menu has pizza that we haven't seen in other places. It's very interesting to try something new and exclusive. But first of all, I was pleased with the responsive and attentive staff. The service was courteous. Everything was served and put away on time. Without being too intrusive. The owner is a very nice person. When we are in Palermo again, we will definitely visit again.

If I could give more than five stars, I would. We ate there yesterday late in the evening and though all the tables were taken, the waiter asked us if we'd like to wait until one is available and in the meantime he offered us menus to browse. It was absolutely worth the wait, the pizzas are over the top delicious and beautiful with quality ingredients and their wine is also very pleasant. We enjoyed the atmosphere and appreciated the chance to taste all this delicacy, the restaurant workers had all really cool and easy-going personalities, the prices are favourable as well. We are also restaurant-workers on vacation here and I'd like to take my chance and send a message to all the people who give bad reviews based on misconceptions and malignancy: you come here from all over the world and fail to respect the people and the spirit of the local culture - so basically you are the ones who get those messages on the walls saying 'tourist go home'; once you stop this 'touristy' behaviour, you can begin to appreciate the little things in life that actually matter. So thank you guys in Assud, we loved everything and I hope to come back in the future. Hopefully next time I can also order in perfect Italian as I want to learn it, you and your country are all...

Being here is like: Visiting friends. The pizzas look great and go down fantastically well. The small, steep alleyway leading off Via Maqueda, which houses a beer bar, another restaurant and the ASSUD, is extremely popular with visitors to the city.

Good music is played here. A cheerful place with good vibes.

I recently had a chat here with someone from the crew about Russian filmmakers and Russian literature. It's the kind of thing I really love when arty conversation is added to the lively bar culture.

Deductions in the B grade: the mineral water comes from plastic bottles and there are no tempered red wines here either, because "we are not France" (quote).

Oh yes... when I think of the great cheeses, champagnes and wines in Paris and the surrounding area... sometimes you just want to take...
