Top50 bar that doesn't quite make it in my opinion, at least compared to other top50 ones that I've visited. First of all and what initially blows your mind, the bar is greatly designed, it looks fancy, neat, with astounding decoration and lighting. The drinks are quite good and tasty, we had 4 for 15 to 18 euros each so pricey, but you'd expect that from this kind of bar. The first bad surprise of the night was that after being offered still or sparkling wine, we were brought a branded bottle of water, which is a first since I understand from experience that in proper cocktail bars water is complimentary. So it's not the 3 euros for the water... It's just the bar wanting to make business out of serving water (even more in a city with quite good drinking water from the tap). Then the menu looks quite good and well explained, with 25 cocktails and a few older ones, greatly detailed so that's a plus. 3 drinks were not available and one of the first we ordered they also didn't have it which was a bit odd again, but oh well it could be just a missing ingredient. They asked us and replaced it by another similar cocktail. The ice looks neat, with the bar logo "stamped" on it, and that's about all the decoration the drinks have, there's no garnish at all which I take it's a trademark of some kind, but again you'd expect some sort of garnish on a bar like this. Lastly, aside from the menu, the waiters don't explain the drinks or give any further information on them which is another strange thing since it's usually the case on these kind of top notch bars. Ultimately, good drinks, great ambience, but pricey and lacking some extra to be a proper top50.

Drink Kong plays a techno type rap music. Fortunately it's not crazy loud. They have one of the best bar stock in Rome. We were greeted with a welcome drink and finger food. The mixologists take great pride in their creations. They have a unique menu. It's a book that list the drinks with a chart about each one. The chart has four corners: sweet, acid, bitter and Kong Factor. I had to ask what that is. They said it's a combination of balance and complexity. This is useful for those who aren't familiar with ingredients. It's highly unusual for someone like me who does know ingredients and makes decisions based on them. But Drink Kong is part of the "50 Best Bars on the World" list. So I wanted to try one of their home grown cocktails. I started with the "Formula". Which is Blanco tequila and a Amaro. It was a fine cocktail but not my jam. After a discussion with my mixologist I learned that the ingredients for the recipes are in the back of the book. He recommended the Quantico based on my preferences and said if I didn't like it he'd make me something else. I had nothing to lose and rolled with it. To his credit it was much more in my zone. I finished off with having them make me a Donald Draper cocktail from my list of recipes. They didn't flench. They rolled up their sleeves and made it happen. It was spot on. I respect that. They deserve the accolades. Drink Kong is a legit craft cocktail bar. Check out my profile for more great eateries and craft cocktail bars. -VanPort Insider ✌🏼

It's pretty easy to understand why this ranked in the top 50 bars in the world: Drink Kong offers an experience that you can find at only a few other institutions and it does it well. The menu is fantastically imaginative with a long list of ingredients that is probably better suited for a Michelin starred restaurant and I found myself excited to guess what the drinks would taste like based on their ingredients. We visited one evening in August 2021 without a reservation and luckily, the host was able to seat us outside (inside seats required a COVID green card and as a US traveler we were unable to obtain one). There was a line/wait that quickly formed after we arrived (930PM on a Thursday) so it's probably best that you plan your evening out. We tried three different cocktails each and every single one was well-balanced but offered something very different/unique. There were unexpected flavors and combinations -- the drinks were complex and hard to describe because they were so different. The snacks were a great complement to the food -- we had the Yakitori. In a world of simple apertivos, Aperol spritzes, and Peronis, this menu was a great escape. The location itself is easy to find (occupying a big space on the corner) and as of August 2021 has some seating outdoors. Otherwise, I highly recommend sitting inside with the neon signs illuminating this drinking den.

Unfortunately, I have to say that this was one of the bad bar/restaurant experiences we have had. The place is nicely decorated, friendly staff and interesting menu. We have traveled around and tested different bars on this top 50 bars around the world. This bar does not live up to the other bars on the list. Above all, we experienced poor service even though there were not that many guests when we were there.

We tested 4 different drinks, 1 was good, 1 didn't taste like the description, 1 was really sweet and the last one just tested juice. (I think all of them had the wrong balance in taste). We ordered water 2 times which we never got, even though we reminded them, we were served by 3 different waitresses which became confusing and led to us having to say things 2 times. They brought out glasses, which the next waitress took away, we asked to have a drink menu left on the table, which the next waitress took away 30 seconds later, there were 4 of us who wanted to order food, he took the order from one of us, took the menu and left. He brought out a container of cutlery which the next waitress took away, then we got the cutlery back when the food came. At this point we are trying to remind them to get our water that was our fist order.. They didn't come and ask if we wanted anything else to drink, they started clearing the table while 2 of us were still sitting and eating. At this point we just wanted to pay and leave. We were curious to try more cocktails but this was just too much, we left for some pizza and aperol instead.

This was just a few examples of our whole experience. I'm not really that picky. I want a seat and a good drink. But it was too many mistakes that made this experience bad. It was like no waitress had responsibility for any table which led to them opposing each...

We have very big expectations - top 50 world’s bar is very good reference for those , who are working in this industry. Such an disappointment…

one star - kudos to Chefs, i wasn’t hungry, but at the end we had 2 types of tacos, it was so delicious, so we couldn’t stop

one star - for the cocktail card, i really like the names, very unfortunate, that concept wasn’t explain, i didn’t feel that team very engaged with it in english, we were asking questions about flavours , but answers were mostly - yes /no. have to admit service team was trying to help us in everything, smiling , nice guys.

Main disappointment- host/manager Reservation was done for 21:30, i was notified by the website, that after 21:30 it is free flowing. We arrived , well dressed and super happy host meet us with poker face, no smile, he was showing his unpleasure… Bar and terrace were offered, we requested to have table inside, with 7 empty tables host refused , saying all booked. ?! if i did the reservation for 21:30 and arrived on time, how does it possible that my reservation is worth than others ?! considering further is the freeflow and they can seat guests anywhere. After discussion and impolite recommendation from the hostess to put a note upon reservation, we finally been seated inside. Further 2-3 tables remains empty. I was working as Restaurant Manager in Four Seasons for long time , visiting different bars around the world, for me this is shame.. host is your face , he/she may have a good strategic for seating, it have to be reasonable for the guest. as well as smile is reasonable i think . I suggest owners to visit Elcopitas in Saint Petersburg and see what real hospitality is, how does it play good with bar and exclusive concept. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my...

Underwhelming experience. Place itself looks very chic and modern but that seems to be the only good thing it has going for itself. Entering I was greeted by a lovely receptionist, smile on her face and very pleasant. Was sat down, greeted by an equally nice cocktail waiter, was given menus and offered water. All good so far. Received my first drink, Echoes of Bananas. As the name implies, it tasted very much like bananas, but nothing much else going on. No flavours from the base spirit and too sweet. Moved to the bar, finished my first drink. Bartenders never asked me if I want another round, had to flag them myself. Second drink had the Enki. Again same theme as the previous one. Over-diluted and no flavours from the base spirit, almost like it wasn't even there. Disappointed again. Never got a check-back on any of the drinks. Starting to wonder already how are these people in Top 50 Bars in the World. Finished my second drink as well. Slightly frustrated I check the menu for a drink that might actually pack a punch ABV wise. Ordered the Darth Fennel, again I've had to flag the bartender, they don't seem to be in the habit of offering another round. Drink comes, I taste it, finally something that tastes like it has some alcohol in it. Then again, not thanks to the mixologist, but because the ingredients that are inside most of them are spirits. Overall, don't go again to this place and I don't recommend the drinks either. Bartenders was too busy entertaining their friends or checking out the women than actually being hospitable towards their guests. Don't understand how they made it in Top 50 Bars. I would avoid if you're accustomed to good standards and good...
