Inaction and no communication to solve problems. Here is what happened during my 5 day stay :
-We arrive on the 5th of July and have to go pick up our keys at my tale hotel. The lady at the front desk gives us the keys and tells us that she « thinks its the good keys and that she thinks our room is on the first floor . If we have problems with the keys we should call her ( See pictures but its a 34 min walk from the hotel to our room; and we have luggages). We ended up having no problems with the keys but the fact that the person at the front desk told us there could have been isnt reassuring.
-When we arrive at the room we have 3 problems. The safe isnt usable The TV is out of service None of the 3 wifi network actually provide wifi. (We bought little international data on our phone but we plan to use them out of the room for google maps or emergency) The room is advertised as soundproof, it really isnt. We heard noise from the street and corridor as if it was in the room
I notify the Hotel through email (because i can’t find their number on whatsapp). They tell me they are sorry and can’t do anything right now but will fix the issue the next morning.
-After a lot of back and forth by email on the 6th here is what the Hotel offers : The next day (the 7th) they will take our bags and move them to an other room. During that email exchange the employe can’t tell me where the room will be, how we will get the keys, when we will get the keys, if the wifi works over there. He assures me that i will receive an email in the morning to give me all the details. -The 7th we leave out bags in the room at 11am, we still havn’t got an email. At noon i send an email saying its no longer morning and im waiting for some news like promised. At 4 we leave our guided tour of the vatican early and walk to our room. I send and email saying its 4 and im frustrated by the lack of communication because i was promised news and now i have no idea if they took my luggages or not. we arrive at the room and find it cleaned and our luggages aren’t there. I have no emails or any kind of communication from the hotel. At 4:48 in the afternoon the hotel sends me an email to know when i am free to get the keys but still dosent say where are my things or the room. After a short email exchange they send someone over. Conclusion of all this? —— they changed us to the next room on the same floor. Wifi still dosen’t work. (They never told us what was going on, if i had known it would have been all that trouble and stress for almost nothing i would have kept the first room). The employe that changed us room tells us the wifi isnt working because of the network provider. He also assures us that the manager will call us on whatsapp or send an email by 7:15 am the next morning. I even send an email to the hotel with this information and asking them to print out the email for the manager to be sure that he is aware of what is going on and that we want to talk to him for a refund.
The next day (8th of july, we have been there for 3 days now, still no idea when we will have wifi and have bought more data because the hotel cant provide it) we have no call or email in the morning. We walk over to the hotel’s main desk 34 mins away and meet the manager. He listen to us, tells us he is sorry for lack of communication, says they check yesterday for the wifi and isnt their fault, offers us breakfast and give’s us the hotel’s whatsapp number. He says he will talk with the owner for a refund.
July 10th : We leave italy, i send a whatsapp text asking when i should expect news from them.
July 11th : Because they didnt answer, i send a second text saying im tired of always having to reach out and want to know when i will have news.
July 12th : Still beeing ghosted by the hotel i call booking.ca and...

I rarely write reviews, but my experience at “Mytale Creative Hotel”was so appalling that I feel compelled to warn others.
We were notified the DAY BEFORE arriving in Rome that we’d been given an “upgrade.” What they didn’t tell us was that this so-called “upgrade” was actually a completely different apartment a 20-minute walk from the original location — which was unacceptable considering we were traveling with large suitcases and had planned our trip specifically around the Colosseum area.
Upon arrival, we politely explained the situation and requested to stay in our original booking. What followed was truly shocking. The receptionist Mayar greeted us with nothing but rudeness and a dismissive attitude. She immediately began blaming us for making and canceling reservations (which, by the way, their website and our travel agent clearly stated was allowed). She acted like we were inconveniencing her and made no effort to be helpful. Every question or concern we raised was met with sighs, eye rolls, and a cold, arrogant tone.
When our travel agent called to assist, Mayar answered and continued her rude behavior — sighing, speaking with an irritated voice, and even refusing to give her real name when asked (she deliberately spelled it incorrectly on the call). Whether it’s a complete lack of training or something more concerning, her behavior was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. We couldn't help but question whether her attitude was racially motivated, given how immediately hostile she was to us from the moment we walked in.
We asked for two taxi rides to and from the new location (since it was far from where we booked), but she curtly said the manager would only cover one. Exhausted and frustrated, we accepted just to get some rest. Even when we calmly asked how the reimbursement for the taxi would work, Mayar told us — with a glare — that she could cancel our entire reservation if we didn’t like it. Completely absurd. In the end, she told us to call the taxi ourselves and that the hotel would reimburse us via bank transfer. The different staffs communicating with us all had different responses regarding this matter: Mayra insisted that she couldn’t call a taxi for us while another staff said they would have arranged a taxi for us. And right after our check-out date we were informed that the manager magically went on vacation despite communicating with us the day before, and cannot deal with this matter. This is again very unprofessional and frustrating. WE HAVE RECEIVED NOTHING AS OF TODAY.
When we finally got to the “upgraded” apartment, things only got worse. While the space was large, it was clearly poorly maintained and neglected:
Rooms were dusty, with layers of dirt on tables and hangers. The entire apartment smelled like mold and stale air. Only one usable bathroom — which smelled like stagnant water— and the shower light was broken, so we had to shower in complete darkness. Dishwasher still had dirty, crusted dishes inside. Wi-Fi did not work in any of the rooms. Water pressure in the bathroom was barely functional.
This place felt like no one had stayed in it for months. It was far from the quality and location we had originally booked, and yet we were treated like we were the problem.
Mytale Creative Hotel's service was not just disappointing — it was disrespectful and unprofessional. Avoid this hotel at all costs, especially if you value decent hospitality and basic cleanliness. There are plenty of better-run hotels in Rome — do yourself a favor and...
