The restaurant is situated in a lovely little alley unencumbered by the tourist traps cluttering the adjacent streets. Only HUGE disappointment was the total absence of any vegetarian food apart from cacio e pepe -- but how many of those can one eat back to back?? -- and a salad. Even the vegetable side dishes had pork or fish added to them. Also, no flexibility from the staff/kitchen to offer an alternative when I asked if there was something other than the salad (how hard can pasta, basil and tomatoes be to prepare?). The staff was very friendly. Despite my disappointment, I still recommend this restaurant to the omnivores out there as the food looked and smelled delicious. I can't exactly rate it as I didn't eat it :)

A true gem bang in the middle of Rome’s historic centre. We went twice in one weekend as we kept talking about it! We saw this reviewed on Youtube by a local guy, then researched it a bit and it seems to me to achieved their aim of taking an out of centre Osteria grub to where you normally find overpriced / stereotypical offers. My tip would be two go for a selection of half portion pastas so you can try most. The Cacio & Pepe is otherworldly 😮‍💨 Special mention for the staff & lady Alessandra at the till, they were all so genuinely pleasant & pros at what they do.

While walking back from Piazza del Popolo, we came across Frezza, and it turned out to be the perfect first meal upon arriving in Rome. We are visiting from Chicago.

We started with their incredible charcuterie board—one word: amazing. The cheeses, meats, and olives were all top quality and bursting with flavor. We tried a few classic Roman pastas: the carbonara, cacio e pepe and one with artichokes. Both were perfectly prepared, fresh, and creamy with just the right balance of flavors.

What truly set this place apart was the hospitality. The owners were welcoming, the wait staff as well. Very attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. They took the time to share their love of Roman cuisine with us and even brought over two complimentary desserts—a soft, decadent maritozzo and a homemade crostata that was absolutely to die for. As if that wasn’t enough, we were treated to a few shots of limoncello to end the evening.

With only a few nights in Rome, even our kids said, “Let’s go back there again!” That’s how memorable the meal was. A heartfelt thank you to the Frezza team for your warmth, generosity, and...

We sat and ordered and waited, after 35 minutes we asked where our food was and the manager said the kitchen just opened, 20 minutes after we ordered. I tried to weave him down but the manager was more interested in chatting and joking with another couple and ignored us for another 20 minutes. It wasn’t until I got up and went inside to find our easier was relaxing across the street on a bench that I found out our fuss was really delayed. We tried to order another dish as well but that order never made it to the kitchen, the manager asked us what we wanted and said ok, but never put it in. The food was great, but the manager taught the staff to relax and enjoy and customers come serving after having fun, relaxing, and chatting with other who dressed customers. I will not return to or recommend this place to...
