Gelato g Italiano — Restaurant in Rome

On our way back to the Trevi Fountain, we decided to get some more gelato.

We stood in line for about 10 minutes but it went by quick due to the great customer service with each customer. The employee you could tell had a passion for his job. He also was very patient with all of the parents and kids in front of us. I had to point this out as it usually goes unnoticed by customers.

Now the flavors here were abundant. The amount of choices were hard to decipher and make a combination; however, my wife and I both prevailed and made our gelato creations.

Gelato Italiano (near the Trevi Fountain)

Just a block from the Trevi Fountain, Gelato Italiano stands out with its lively atmosphere and a steady stream of gelato seekers. I went for a chocolate-dipped cone with two flavors: Chocolate Fondente and Tiramisù.

The Chocolate Fondente was excellent — rich, smooth, and not overly sweet. The Tiramisù was decent, but didn’t quite deliver the depth or coffee kick you might expect from the classic dessert. The cone itself, dipped in chocolate and nuts, added a satisfying crunch and looked great.

Expect crowds and a bit of a wait — it’s a popular spot in a tourist-heavy area. But if you're looking for a quick, satisfying gelato close to Trevi, this is a solid choice.

Verdict: Great location, quality dark chocolate gelato, and a cone...

Worst place to have gelato!! Have been staying in Italy for 8 days and had Gelato at-least once everyday and never for once any shop refused to let us try the flavour. I asked if I can try a flavour and the guy rudely and impatiently said ‘ no its not possible’ and few seconds later said ‘ i can just give one’ and immediately said something to other staff guy in Italian with a frowning face!!! First thing, I asked for ‘just one flavour’ and not 10.

Secondly, the same guy let people behind me try the flavours . This is very much racist!!

We were standing right outside the shop eating the ice cream and saw that later the staff was happily offering trials to other customers. Such a disappointing experience. Not recommended at all.

Please avoid at all costs and go to other shops...
