Went here for my 40th birthday dinner and was so disappointed in the service. No tables ready when we arrived on time for our reservation. Now we were one of three groups who arrived for our reservation time slot and no tables were ready. After awkwardly standing in the doorway while they scrambled about what to do they asked us to sit in the door way at one table and given a free glass of Prosecco. Things seemed ok at this point and then after about 20 minutes we were moved. I asked if we could stay in the first table as it was near the door but she adamantly refused. Unfortunately the new table was way in the back corner and very loud. New table was near children who were screeching and making strange dinosaur noises. The children were maybe 10 and 14 and were just being children but it affected my hearing aid. After 30 minutes of being here at this point I was finally given a menu. Once trying to place the order the waiter could not tell me what was in the bruschetta dish and due to allergies I chose to order only what the menu stated was in my dietary restrictions. No silverware on my side of the table table due to the flip happening so fast so I had to wait for that to come after they served 1/2 our appetizers. Ordered wine twice and never received it. Fillet mignon was tough and fatty and over cooked and drowning in sauce to cover the bad piece of steak. My husband’s steak was perfect and the beef tartare was amazing. The focaccia bread was delicious and the best part of my meal. I was unable to eat my steak and sent it back. They boxed it and gave it to me…. He asked if I like it and I said no. My husband was still eating and we had side dishes but they took my silver ware at this point so I could not eat anything else. After 1 bite I was shocked to see it still on the bill. After asking one person for the bill and paying another person asked us if we wanted desert and it felt very pushy. Once I was standing to put on my coat and paid the first waiter shouted at us to have an after dinner digestive over the shoulder of the waiter who had taken over our table once he could not answer my question about the appetizer. After 20 years of working in restaurants I have never had such an experience. I have never left a bad review before but this was an awkward and skippable restaurant. Unfortunately this was a one and done experience and it left a bad taste in my mouth for my birthday. Three bites of steak tartare, and two pieces of focaccia bread do not make a dinner. Had I known this I would have walked right out when we got there. 3 waiters and so confusing no one seemed to know what...
Read moreI have never in my life experienced a restaurant quite as bad as Agrodolce. Beginning, we came around 7:40 when we stumbled across it on our way to the Trevi Fountain. We asked for a table, and the man at the front told us the soonest he’d be able to accommodate us is at 8:40 outside. Ok, no problem obviously, we make a RESERVATION for 8:40 We show up at 8:43, no table in sight, same man tells us to wait in the long queue. We wait a couple minutes and see him set up tables, and while I’m in the bathroom, he sits us in the very end where people/cars are practically trampling over us. He then says he can’t move us and comes back a couple minutes later to move us. Inconsistent communication is a norm here. We get moved, are all ready to order, and finally after no greeting, nothing, we finally get to order. We receive our starter (just a selection of dried meat) quite promptly, no issue with that nor the actual quality of the food. The issue however keeps on going when people who ordered after us have received their main dishes way faster than us. People who had starters but also ordered 20-30 mins after us began receiving their first dishes. Finally, after the long wait, we receive one of our dishes, the carbonara. Where is the other dish? God knows. Some simple restaurant etiquette is that one dish should never come before the others, they should come at the same time. Instead here I am waiting like an idiot for 10 minutes while my partner almost finished his whole entire dish. The overall service outside of my review was terrible and only improved very slightly once the server noticed I was very unhappy. I would never eat here again for some mediocre pasta and terrible service. A tip for the restaurant: if you cant handle the amount of people coming, maybe slow down the seating and actually take care of the customers...
Read moreA few days ago we visited this wonderful restaurant in the very centre of Rome. First of all, I would like to point out the location of the restaurant, it is a minute away from the Trevi fountain, but despite this the prices are affordable. The interior of the restaurant is very nice and cosy, and the food is delicious, all the pastas we tried were great, but the papardelle is just the best pasta I had in Italy. I would especially like to mention our excellent waiter, Simone Sky, he is not only a professional but also an extremely sweet person. It was my sister's birthday on the day we went to the restaurant and I asked Simone if there was any opportunity to congratulate her somehow, and he said that he would do "all his best" and he actually organised everything perfectly. At the end of the evening, Simone and his colleagues brought out a gift piece of cake with candles for my sister and sang Happy birthday, it was so touching and lovely (and Simone had planned it all out in detail, and even asked me my sister's name to sing the song). But the surprises from the restaurant and from Simone didn't end there. When the bill was brought to us, we noticed that the bottle of wine we had ordered wasn't included, which we immediately informed Simone about. He apologised, thanked us and brought us a new bill, and when we paid it he asked us not to leave. Then he brought a complimentary glass of wine for each of us, which was also really unexpected and sweet. Thus, it was thanks to Simone that a lovely restaurant with great food, became my favourite place in Rome and this evening was one of the best during our whole trip❤️ We will definitely come back here again when we are in Rome and I would recommend this fabulous place to...
