Conv’Viale 🍝 - Food: 4/5 🛎️ - Service 3/5 📍 - Location 3/5
TLDR: In conclusion, Osteria Conv'Viale is a fantastic restaurant that offers traditional Roman recipes with a modern twist and a great wine selection. The "polpette di ossobuco" was scrumptious, and the service was fast and precise. While the price may be a bit steep for some, the quality of the food justifies it. However, the restaurant could improve by promoting its sharing table concept more effectively.
Osteria Conv'Viale, located just two steps away from Vatican City, is a delightful restaurant that offers traditional Roman recipes with a modern touch. The ambience is cosy and inviting, making it the perfect place for a memorable dining experience.
One dish that genuinely stood out during my visit was the "polpette di ossobuco". They were delicious and beautifully presented, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. The combination of flavours in these meatballs was excellent, leaving me craving more. The spaghetti with broccoli dish deserve a not as well. They were perfectly "al dente" I loved them!
The service at Osteria Conv'Viale was excellent. The staff was fast and precise in attending to our needs, ensuring that our dining experience was seamless. However, I found that the staff lacked a certain level of empathy, as they seemed distant. Despite this minor flaw, the overall service was commendable.
In terms of pricing, Osteria Conv'Viale can be considered moderately expensive, with an average cost of around 50 EUR per person, including wine. While the quality of the food justifies the price, it may not be suitable for those on a tight budget.
One aspect of the restaurant that seemed underutilized and not as well-integrated into the overall dining experience was the sharing table concept. Although it is an excellent idea, especially in a city like Rome that tends to be less updated regarding dining trends, the staff did not...
Read moreBad experience. We booked a table outside by phone for. But they failed to mention there was a birthday party/reception that night. So by the time the guest for the party arrived we felt like were invading the party. Not really a way to enjoy your dinner/evening. We orderd some antipasti, OK nothing special, then pasta (each another one, we were 4) Ok but again nothing special. It was our last of four nights in Rome, we hade 3 lovely dinners near our hotel ( Osteria Antico Falcone was a real gem) but this one left us with a bad feeling. We wanted a glass of white wine but the waitress said it would be 6 euro’s per glas so we decided on a botlle, I orderd a Verdichio out of the two pages of white wine menu. I pointed it out on the menu and named it clearly to the waitress who pointed it out to a another waitress, it was 22 euro’s. When we got the bill it turned out to be 40 euro’s!!!. I asked the waitress, we got the menu and i again pointed it out. Turned out there was an another Verdiccho above the one I had pointed out that was 40 euro’s. She said she tought i meant that one and a I hade a chance to see the difference when she served it. Excuse me!!! I cannot tell the difference by label between more than 20 wines on the menu and especially it were to verdicchio’s. I just assumed it was the one I clearly pointed out. We ended up paying it but it left a bad taste in our mouth. That and being surrounded by somebodies birthdayparty. We had hoped more for our last dinner in Rome certainly compared to the other nice restaurants in the neigbourhood. Don’t go there and look a few streets further I...
Read moreWe were tired from bad pizzas and spaghetti that we had during our stay in Roma so we came to this restaurant. We had oyster, salmon and grilled squid with shrimps and baby octopus. Oyster was very good. Salmon prepared quite good (not dry) but without salt (but maybe that was in purpose because a cup of soy sauce and sweet chilli sauce was added to this dish and that didn't make good impression). Squid, shrimps and octopus were not bad but in some places overburned. This restaurant left mixed feeling for us. Definettly better restaurant than most restaurants that we have visited in this area but not as good...
