Ristorante Carlo Menta in Trastevere is an absolute gem that offers an exceptional dining experience even in the face of bustling crowds. I had the pleasure of visiting in March 2023, and it left a lasting impression on me. The ambiance of the restaurant was lively and energetic, with around 150 school children having dinner downstairs. Despite the large group, the service at Ristorante Carlo Menta remained top-notch, which speaks volumes about the restaurant's dedication to quality and efficiency. The seafood at Ristorante Carlo Menta was nothing short of amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and expertly prepared, each dish was a testament to the rich culinary traditions of Italy. From succulent grilled fish to mouthwatering seafood pasta, every bite was a delightful symphony of flavors from the sea. The pasta was equally impressive, cooked to perfection and served with delicious sauces that complemented the dishes perfectly. The combination of fresh ingredients and skillful preparation made the pasta a highlight of the meal. The friendly and attentive staff at Ristorante Carlo Menta were true professionals, ensuring that each guest, including the large group of school children, received top-notch service and attention. Their efficiency and dedication to providing an outstanding dining experience were commendable. Located in Trastevere, Ristorante Carlo Menta offers a charming setting that captures the essence of Rome. The restaurant's warm and inviting atmosphere made it a perfect spot to enjoy a delightful meal while exploring the beautiful streets of Trastevere. Overall, Ristorante Carlo Menta in March 2023 exceeded all expectations. The amazing seafood and pasta dishes, combined with the impressive service despite a large group of school children, made it a memorable dining experience. If you're looking for an authentic taste of Italian cuisine in a vibrant and welcoming setting, Ristorante Carlo Menta is the place to go. I will undoubtedly be returning to savor more of their fantastic seafood and pasta in the future. Don't miss out on this culinary gem - it's an experience you won't forget!

If you're looking for an affordable Italian dining experience, then Carlo Menta is definitely worth checking out. This restaurant may not offer the most luxurious ambiance or the most diverse menu, but it more than makes up for it with its delicious and reasonably priced dishes. We recently tried the Quadro Formaggi pizza and pasta with cheese and pepper, and we were pleasantly surprised by how tasty and filling they were. The pizza had a generous amount of cheese and a crispy crust, while the pasta was perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of spice. To accompany our meal, we also ordered half a liter of wine, which was a great complement to our dishes. Overall, we felt satisfied and content with our meal, especially when considering the prices. The restaurant's affordability is definitely one of its strongest selling points. While Carlo Menta may not be the best Italian restaurant we've ever been to, it's certainly a great choice for those who want a decent meal without breaking the bank. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. We would definitely recommend Carlo Menta to anyone looking for a delicious and budget-friendly Italian meal

I have very mixed feeling about this restaurant. On one hand, the food was very tasty. The steak was well seasoned and the meat was tender, the bruschettas were ok (but the bread was too dry) and the pizza had a good amount of mushrooms in it. The only exception was the lasagna, which was nearly terrible, it had almost no filling between the pasta layers, it was almost only a tower of pasta with some meat and tomato sauce on top. Other than that, the food was good for the price, with some good options for menu combos. What was really disappointing was the service. The waiter wasn't very welcoming and the food was served one plate at a time, almost waiting 30 minutes in between each of us being served. It was noticeable that the food was made in batches, being served the lasagna at one time and the pizzas at another for the whole restaurant. By the time the two of us were getting the lasagna served the ones who ate pizza had already finished their plate like 10 minutes ago. Also, the bathrooms weren't that clean, they had a bad smell.

We got the oxtail, the vegetable soup and the gnocchi. We found the food to be at a very reasonable price (except for the side of spaghetti, see below) compared to other establishment and found it to be very tasty. 4 out of 5 - The oxtail (doesn't come with pasta as seen in the picture) was cooked really good. I still had to put in some work to fetch the meat of the bone BUT the taste for really good. The gnocchi and the vegetable soup for pretty good. The soup was full of flavor (5 out of 5), the gnocchi (4 out of 5) could have used some more flavor but was still enjoyable. We found the atmosphere to be really nice and lively. One con for this place was, I asked for a side of spaghetti (plain) and when the bill arrived they charged me 5 euros for it. I found that to be absurd... I won't take any point off of that BUT I think that's a little excessive as they're charging a full meal price for pasta they just boiled and served. Lesson learned to never order a side of pasta or to ask how much it will be prior to ordering.

I would give 5 stars without hesitation, but... So we arrived to Rome to have week long winter law conference. Very first night we just roamed through Rome and we found this very nice restaurant. I have to say that I was really surprised. And positively. Food was very good. Like really good, tasty and made with care. To be honest, for this price I didn't expect such good quality food. I really can't say anything against food. But here comes the catch... I personally, and my colleagues would pay +20%, maybe 40% more for the meal. But if you are not Englishman, American, German, French or Italian. Maybe western European in general... Don't expect nice treatment from staff. Waiter was looking at us like we are about to steal something and was looking forward for us to eat quickly and get out already. And not only him, but his colleagues as well. Food was very good and if you looking for "instant" Italian experience. Go for it. But for us? Not anymore. Once was good, but I don't want to be treated like a trash.

Was looking for somewhere nearby our AirBnb and passed by Carlo Menta. Weren't expecting anything fantastic from the prices looked but we were intrigued. We chose the seats inside the ristorante to avoid the summer heat. Very cosy and homely ambience. Spacing between tables were cramped but it was alright. We were immediately attended to by this nice old waiter who took our orders patiently. Food was nice for the price (we have restaurants with similar concepts in our country), in fact, much better than what we have back in our country. The pizza was authentically thin crusted and the ingredients and sauces on top was on point. The Amatriciana and grilled sea bass were straight forward and tasted fine. We loved the Tiramisu and Panna Cotta as well! It was a good surprise for us at the end of the day. Price was reasonable in the touristy area and food was good. We don't have much to complain about 😊 Swing by to try if you are around!
